Wow cool find.

Is it normal for pawn shops to carry tools? I can't even remember the last time I was at a pawn shop, but hell I will visit them more often if so. There are tons here in Vegas for obvious reasons....may have to make some stops.

the one i have been to around here does. BUT the stuff there was only about 10% off retail with no warranty. not sure if i went to the wrong pawn shop or if they are all like that around here. most the tools looked beat too, like they were used commercially.

Some of the stuff in there was actually more than sale prices. Guns had a $100 mark up over the gun shop across the street....:headscrat

A couple pawn shop pointers-
  • The price marked on tools in or behind the display cases are not to be taken seriously. In my experience, they will usually knock off 25-50% to close the sale. Approach it like you are buying a used car.
  • The really good deals take work, as they are usually found buried in buckets or bins of misc tools.
  • If you are going to go digging for deals in the buckets, ask the guy the bucket tool prices BEFORE you start digging. They will usually tell you something like "A buck each for USA made, 25 cents each for the rest". You want to have had him say this BEFORE he sees the 4 Snap-on items you found. :)

Thanks, Titus. I love digging through the buckets and bins but never thought of asking the price BEFORE I start. I'll definitely try that next time. It also helps if you find rusty stuff that you have to really look to see what brand it is. :bounce: I recently bought an F&M Group crescent wrench for a dollar or something that was so rusted that it wouldn't move but when I got it home, I dipped it in the electrolysis bath for about a day and now it's practically new.
