And this was Saturday at my aged parents' garage. They hadn't noticed that their water heater was apparently leaking a good bit for weeks.

100F temps, about a 12hr evolution to remove the leaking water heater, assess the mess, remediate the moldy drywall and insulation and repeatedly slather the framing with a black mold -killing bleach-vinegar solution and get the new water heater installed and operational.

Next day like an idiot I was grouting a slate patio in the hot morning, 7am-1pm, before retreating to the relative comfort of a hot garage to finish up the details on the water heater.

Primed. Not bad for a spray can job, but I am a little worried about tiger type stripes when I do the paint in a couple days. I wish I had a cheap air gun type thing and hooked it to my compressor. No painting today since it's raining.

Harbor Freight "purple" paint gun is about $12 and gets pretty good reviews.

My co-worker said the same thing! I might just pick it up and then have it on hand. Stupid rustoelum sells husqvarana paint only in spray cans yet all their other "farm equipment" paint they sell in gallons and pints. If I could get a pint of this stuff I'd definitely do it and spray it.

Broke a brake line on old faithful Sunday night. Did the repair today, those wonderful lines that run under the gas tank...
Did have a "Northern victory". The rear bleeders both came loose after a six hour soak of kroil. Those bleeders hadn't been touched in over six years or more.

Yesterday I set the ignition timing on my 92 Accord. Then I ran wire and added a 240v outlet for my electric heater. Then I adjusted the parking brake on my 04 CR-V. I still don't have it set right, hopefully today I'll finally get it.

Got the last coat of polycrylic on the behind-the-couch tables last night. Just need to assemble the electrical boxes to it tonight and get it wired and moved in.

that looks like a tru-cool 40k. No need to cut up the bowtie. I ran mine, like yours, through the radiator to the 40k & my trans temps rarely got over 130 degrees... Less during the winter.

Something to be aware of if you're cutting the hard lines & using the rubber hose/barb fittings.... keep an eye on your clamps. Mine were tight, then after a couple of cold days, I had one pop off running down the interstate. There's nothing quite like coating the entire underside of your truck while simultaneously spraying down your wife's car behind you in 30 degree weather.

If I had it to do over, I'd spring for the gm radiator to An fittings/adapters & run braided from the radiator to the cooler & back.

1999 Eclipse engine mounts. Seriously took a good few hours and I only did the 2 side ones, not even the lower torque dampeners. Thankfully the engine doesn't cause the whole car to shake violently now. Went with poly and there is a good vibration at idle though.

Got home from work, trimmed a bush at Grandma's place then came home to straighten up the workshop a bit in anticipation of labour day weekend and the 50+ people who will be hanging around the yard and house this weekend.
Put a bunch of tools and fluids/paint supplies away, tossed a few items on shelves and got most of the parts drawers back in their cabinet. Still have to address the multitude of fasteners on the bench as I've run out of drawers to put much of that stuff in. This may prompt me to rethink my storage entirely and finally build that rolling parts station I have been pondering for some time..

Last of the major structural gluing tonight, last night and the night before. getting the outer salvaged ply paneling skins on the box cases was a bit tricky as some of the wood had a slight bow, so I clamped a 2X to them to take the bow out and then made sure the frame was square before gluing and 18 gauge brad nailing them to the oak frames.

The ply skins are helping to keep the bowing out too! and I will expect the shelves to do a bit more as I get those cut and glued in...

I even got the sides of the two halves of the Lantern and Stove box stained on the outside. the inside will just get a couple of coats of poly, along with the outside.

But done for the night.

Yep, got it in one. It's a nice kit. I did a nice basic mounting this morning before it got over 100F, but I couldn't linger over it. Went with the barbed fittings and left my original cooler lines uncut. Used their flares to advantage and (for now) just used a couple loops of hose to solve the fittign alignment trouble.

I set the new cooler bottom even with the top of the bumper and slightly to the passenger side, used the kit straps and a few mods to the existing A-frame support.

It's working fine for now. But I do intend to re-do the mountings with long flat straps laid across the A-frame. And I intend to cut / mod the factory lines and have some compression unions down under by the front frame cross rail and just have hoses rising thru the front baffle to the cooler. And get things cinched down better. It's good enough for test driving right now, but I need to make everything more secured.

Spent yesterday working on the 04 CR-V. Finally got the parking brake adjusted properly, replaced front brake pads and rotors, replaced spark plugs, and installed a new aftermarket air intake system (don't laugh, it was the cheapest way to fix the broken stock air box).

I also ran some wire for the last new circuit I'm installing, and did a little clean up.

Got home from work last night, mowed my lawns and was going to work on the Jeep but a neighbor came by to bring a bag of vegetables from his garden. Sat and BS'd a bit then put my ProRock 44 axle under the Jeep and called it a night.

Mowed & weedeated my neighbor's yard just to be nice. He's in the military (reserves I think) and gone for 3 weeks for training or whatever they do. The back yard was getting so tall it looked like their dogs were running through a jungle...

I got the ECU for my 1940 Ford back from the manufacturer yesterday, after upgrading the firm-ware. Today The ECU was installed in the Ford. The ECU accepted the programming and I got a message suggesting it was OK to start the engine. The battery went from 12.6 volts to 7.8 volts and kept dropping volts after a 5 second attempt to start. So, the OPTIMA goes back to the dealer tomorrow morning. Warranty or buy a new Optima red top, I will come home with a new battery. I am starting to question the Optima batteries a little. Tis is the third red top Optima I have purchased for this Ford in 13 years. Every one of the batteries have been on a battery tender. So, I need to find out what is going on.

It's been a week since progress pics were posted; Since then I sanded the inside of the boxes, Glued the finger joints together (fun as at least one case board each had some bow to it so needed a straight 2X4 clamped to take it out for gluing and 18 ga. brad nailing the outside cases on. it was a process and I had to do the finger joints one case at a time as I only had enough bar clamps for one case at a time.)

So cases glued, outsides sanded flush and smooth enough; outside panels glued and nailed; the panels trimmed flush with a router (Last one was done tonight); Leg storage dividers glued and screwed in place; the table cases were stained last night (Had to go buy it I could not find any dark stain in the "stock"); Storage compartment for lantern/stove bits made and hinges mortised in, divider/door stop made and ready to glue in place.

The two "samples" inside are of the "table top"/sides. I tried sanding the finish off the paneling (tricky...) and jsut cleaning adn staining with the same dark stain. Or I could simply seal it with poly... Hmmm.

And the "stack" - I'm getting close! I need to cut the shelves/dividers and inside doors for the "pantry" cabinet. stain the same and Deft the heck out of everything.

Not gonna lie, that is awesome looking. Was the braking good on this to begin with? I wonder how much would be lost due to the reduced surface area? Or would it be a wash with the better heat dissipation?

Hmmm, wonder how you could quantify that?:headscrat

Looks great either way.

I replaced both of my OPTIMA batteries with one regular battery. I bought a "regular" battery for the Ford. For less money, I got a better warranty, and more CCA.
I have absolutely no luck with Optima batteries. I have had three total failures in 13 years. Yes, I always use a battery maintainer.
I will try a first start tomorrow morning.
I could not find an Optima dealer in this area. I was told the brand had been dropped because of a high frequency of failure. One shop told me they were having more than 50% returns.

Started the exhaust manifold replacement on the Explorer. Removal of the old manifold mostly done.
Two intact studs left to get out - two studs broken in the head.

Tomorrow will be fun.

Built the shop 4 years ago and finally plumbed the sink. I have a small electric instant hot water heater on it too. Cold water drips on my free faucet so I need to get seals for it.

Jeep Liberty driveshaft u-joints. The dam dana brand ones don't even fit. Have an email in with rock auto to get me a different version asap. I think with thinner end clips it could work.

**** shouldn't be this hard. Product was Chinese though...

d.m, are you sure you didn't get one of the roller pins in the bottom of a cup?

I thought the same. More than once the 'ol stray roller has kicked my ****. Goop extra grease in the cups to keep the rollers in place, before you install them.

Been drinking whiskey pops tonight...and as such, I felt like I should accomplish something while still awake. Often that's a bad choice (LOL), however I went to the garage & pondered what I could do to not get myself into too much trouble. :D So I fixed a broken transaxle vent tube on my little Ford Escape that I recently discovered has been weeping oil. Chopped off the broken lower end, cleaned up the upper portion & managed to slide it on without skinning any knuckles. No photos, they would definitely come out worse than my usual blurry submissions! Now it's off to bed. Zzzzz...

Painted first coat on lawn mower. Not nearly as bad as what I thought. It's going to rain today so no go on painting, plus have to adhere to Rustoleum's 48hr mark on the car to re-coat. So probably Sunday will put on another coat. I hope to get a nice shine out of it. I always thought those stupid trigger/handle things were a gimmick but I really believe it helped in this situation. Seems to have a lot better control on the spray and my finger pushing the tiny knob doesn't get tired like it did before.

Well...so far, between coffees, dragged tools out so I can rebuild the dock. Got a buddy coming for the weekend to the cottage to help. Nice, eh? Who the hell goes to a friend's place on a long weekend to work?

Picked up my winter ATV tires from the shop, had wheels swapped so they would fit my new Outlander. Will test fit this weekend, after the dock is built. For those wondering, they are Traxion Gripper Max with winter studs.

GJ likes pictures, I'm sure you are more interested in tires than a beach area with no dock.

d.m, are you sure you didn't get one of the roller pins in the bottom of a cup?

Positive. I took it apart because I wasn't sure. I measured the old vs the new and the new is longer which is causing the u joint to become impossible to clip in at both ends. I see Dana makes another version that has multiple width clips which is what I will have to use I'm thinking.
