Purpony, The garage door is 16x8 its a insulated Amorr steel door. The loft has 8ft ceilings 15ft wide by 32 ft long and 8ft dormers.

Here's a updated photo of our progress, all outside work, inside will come this fall. We finally got a new asphalt driveway, still have to build a sidewalk to the man door. We painted the overhead and the man door to match the windows. We installed carriage lights and also added a window header on the front upstairs window. Spouting is all done, we had paint mixed to match the siding.Can't wait to finish the inside.

I used to live in Lancaster, PA and they truly are masters of their crafts. I'm just amazed that one of them was standing on the boom of that forklift. It would almost seem taboo for their culture. I wonder if they have personal rules about not going in the house when it's wired or anything. Either way, I'm seriously jealous of you guys out East. Moving to Wisconsin has torn me away from a lot of the good craftsmanship they can provide.

Either way you look at it, that garage is a spectacle. Great final product. :thumbup:

Thanks Guys, inside pics will come as I get it insulated and walls in, finding time is the problem now because the inside I'm doing the work.

As far as I know, the Amish have nothing against USING technology, they just can't be dependent on it. They'll frequently use cellphones and power machinery, but with certain "loopholes" - such as leaving the cellphone at an "english" neighbor's to charge, and generating their own electricity for the power equipment.

I read through, but didn't see your plans for the space. Although I can guess the bottom will be a garage, what's the up being used for? What was the rational for going up and not out?

e-tek, the upstairs is all my wife's, she will use it for crafts or just leisure space, really whatever she wants. :thumbup: As far as going up as opposed to going out, as our lot goes back the lot goes down so the farther back we go it was a huge cost for the wall, we also had decided that this size and style fit nice on our lot.

Jason, Thanks for the compliments! Right now I have the downstairs insulated and beginning to hang drywall, I'll try to get some pics up shortly.

I know what you mean! I have almost decided mine will never be done. I have changed my wiring/bathroom plans 3 times! You really did an awesome job. I know that your wife will enjoy the room upstairs........definitely worth the wait to have a garage like that!

Thanks guys, sorry I haven't replied in a while, my Dad passed away 12-22-09, kind of hard gettin thru the holidays, hope to get things back on track and back to work on the garage soon.
