Overhead Shelves That U-bolt Over Joists?

I see a lot of options on the market for overhead shelving that screw into the ceiling joists. Any out there that are setup to use a u-bolt over the rafters? I would be a lot less worried about them falling on my truck attached like that.

I hear what your saying, the ad's I have seen, some show people hanging off them. Seems like that would be ok. Probably want to periodically check all fastners for still being tight. The problem I always ran into was unless you have a very large sqft garage, your fairly limited where you can hang something like that. I have very low(8ft)ceiling joists, so nothing going overhead in my Garage.

How much weight will be on these shelves?

If you load to the point that proper fastening is a great concern, what about your framing strength?? Marc
