Arizona patio build.

Early this year I wanted to have a built full length patio on my house. I'm a green horn and at the time my confidence wasn't high enough for me to tackle this project. I had a good friend do the framing while I learn. I got the material for him and let him go to town. He had it down in two days. I then primed the patio and then sprayed it. Next I had my concrete guy come finish the last part of the patio that needed concrete, which was a 10'x10' pad. The specs on the patio is 52'x12' 8' ceilings, with 2x6 rafters, 3x10 beam, and 4x8 poles. Next had my friend who owns a electric company in my town, and took care of me on adding 8 Can lights, three ceiling fans, three outlets, and the switches, I wired in four ceiling speakers. Next I had my friend take care of me with drywall. He textured and used 5/8" drywall. I primed the ceiling, and me and my father painted it. Installed my three Hunter fans, and Can light bezels, then installed my Jamo CS65 speakers with a Sonos Connect Amp. Only thing left is to install the trim. Even though I didn't build the patio I have so much love for it and can't wait to use it this cool Arizona winter. Now off to the pictures from the beginning to end. Enjoy.

Well done. Reminds me of our place when we lived in AZ. I also did pretty much the same thing, except mine didn't run the length of the house and didn't have ceiling fans. Not only will you enjoy it in the AZ winter, but the summer as well as it will shade the back of your place.

Hi Mike! One suggestion: If the can lights you have are not sealed, you might want to consider swapping them out. Removing bug colonies from them can be unpleasant.

Mike. This is a good idea As you well know AZ bugs can be fierce. If it crawls, flies or slithers; it either bites, stings or aggravates.

What a difference this summer, our patio is on the south side. This has been an on again off again project(time & money) but it looks like we could be finishing up by Thanksgiving

Kinda curious, what kind of pitch is there where you attached to house? Just trying to understand drainage for rain and such. Hard to tell in pictures. Looks good. I thought about doing the same thing but more of a pergola design. Thanks for the great pics.

Yeah, I imagine all that shade does keep it considerably cooler in the house. That's half the reason I've been wanting to do one on mine...it faces south, and pretty much bakes all summer long.
