So I inherited a ton of wrenches from my Grandfather with some brands I'm not familiar with. Anyone know anything about these?

I have a bunch of Billings which by the B in the triangle I'm guessing New Britain tool works? A ton of Lectrolite. A bunch simply marked Nash. Car maker perhaps? And a lot simply marked AD Made in USA.

As always I appreciate them and will use them. Just curious on maker info.[emoji3]

Thanks in advance for any info!dd9807703bf11ed0524a7aac2653e06e.jpg6663f556933bfef3c6e3d3088438aadc.jpg85a083be3a6a9a47dc2eeb0f01f3a659.jpg95e03f398230fd8db741827e0ca40b42.jpg

Billings made quite a few wrenches and were their own company. I recently found out that the wrenches marked LC are also Lectrolite. The wrench marked Nash is one that I believe came as part of an onboard toolset in a Nash car. I have seen very similar wrenches marked Rambler.

What does that last one say on the other side? It could be a Lectrolite as well, maybe a Select Steel? Select steel was made by Indestro. Lectrolite made wrenches for SK for a time, Lectrolite also used Tru-Fit for a brand name for a while.

Aha! I just noticed the other side is marked LC very very small. So you are probably correct. And since you mention it my Grandfather had a bunch of Tru-Fit wrenches as well. Guess he liked the brand.

Thanks so much!

This is really interesting. I have six of the Nash wrenches, but to my knowledge, no one in the family owned one. Going to have to ask my great aunt if she remembers.

That triangle B is the Billings logo. Made in Hartford, CT into the later 50's/early 60's.....by the Billings & Spencer Company. Spencer is also the same rifle maker (Spencer) and the founder of Hartford Machine Screw, which is now Stanadyne (diesel & gas pumps).

Very cool. I actually just discovered the alloy artifacts site last night. So hopefully I won't keep asking questions that you guys are probably sick of hearing![emoji3] [emoji3]

Please show the wrenches here after you research them. Adding new stuff to the brain pool is never bad.

A lot out there most of us may never actually hold one. Some brands were very regional.

Sure happy to! My grandfather had like forty, refrigerator crisper drawers from the 60s, stuffed with wrenches. Then there's boxes of ratchets and sockets. He inherited a bunch from his father who was a tradesman. He worked in a steel mill in Chicago and I guess horded tools. Have a million things to get through. There were 60ish Lectrolite, Tru-Fits and letter stamped Lectrolites I found. They will be put to use when I can.

Problem is I'm going on triples and quadruples of some sizes in different brands and running out of storage space!
