Planning to document progress, building a 30 X 44 stick-built, with attic trusses in central MN. Have done lots of reading here, still need to determine a few details. Foundation is in, walls framed and trusses coming in a few days. I will get some project photos up soon.
I've been at it a month since I started moving dirt. Lucky to have a lone contractor on it that takes pride in his work and builds like I would. Won't break any speed records but that's the way I like it!

Winter? 90 degrees forecasted Friday, which likely means a snowstorm early next week... Only in MN! Here are some pictures from the work so far.

beauty for sure.

nice clean excavation, clean site....looks great!

Thanks, takes me a while but I got it done. I had to take down a couple spruce trees and dig out the stumps with my dad's small backhoe, then used my 32HP Yanmar and a box blade to strip about 24 inches of topsoil. It took me a while, but you can see the results. The concrete guys said they wished all job sites were prep'd like mine, which was nice for a novice excavator to hear. More pics to come soon.

Geez, that is some nice soil you have there. Mine would have been mostly clay.

Nice building too.

Thanks, once you get below the top soil its nothing but sand. Great for digging and drainage, a challenge to keep the grass green in the peak summer heat, but I'll take that over clay. My previous home was built in clay and rock, and I had a drain tile that ran water just about year round. I've never had a drop of water in my sump at this location in the 13 years I've been there.
