Very nice box! If the paint is smooth and not a rough wrinkle find you can use a car paint buffer to lightly buff the paint . I have used a medium polish on a few boxes with some good results ! Make sure not to over do the polish as it will look odd with shiny paint and dents and rust !

sounds like a plan, it doesnt have many dents. One on top I think I can work out pretty easily. ill give it a shot next day off. see whathappens! thanks!

Here's two of mine, the red one is my 'go to' while on the road with my 28'. The other is a 60's? Craftsman that I got penstriped for free and sold a few weeks ago. Notice the 1964 Indy Drags sticker on the end.... If only it had been 1965...My Dad and the "Mr. Tuff" team won that year for the C-class Gassers!

I can't believe it. :shocking: I bought another Kennedy tool box. It even has the despised **** brown wrinkle paint. However...

it is only 20" wide, and 13" deep. It will fit perfectly under my Powermatic drill press. I've been looking for an old school side box to put on casters and roll under the drill press for a couple of years. Side boxes are kinda scarce around here. I went to the dirt mall with a buddy on Saturday, and found this little gem. The pics are as found. I have since removed the stickers, partially cleaned the box, done some minor body work, and polished the drawer slides. Removing the crappy stickers may have been a mistake. That just exposed more **** brown wrinkle.

I'm trying to just do a simple cleanup and recondition on this box. We'll see how long it keeps that fugly paint. I am so tempted to paint it Powermatic green, with white stripes to match the drill press. What would you guys do?

What pics you want to see Smoke? Just let me know and I will snap away.

Some more of the plomb carry box if you have them please [emoji2] to my knowledge if I recall correctly, they are not usually stamped, just stickers and over the years most were lost! I also can't remember who made the carry boxes for them? Thanks for taking those ![emoji108]

Here are some of my old boxes,

1-64 vintage Cman hand carry, freshly restored. Not 100% accurate but good enough for the shelf.

Another Cman hand box, this one is my daily junkyard tote

'78 vintage snappy kra-53

Old Kennedy box, it needs a drawer one got stuck and I had to pry it open

And I guess my main box is vintage as its an '86 vintage....61abdb95813bfaf6cd37bbe7224c7300.jpgb5688755f752ddcd050cb3b643a6570e.jpge505ae4d6f919fafb3302ec70f51f445.jpg8745c57748672ae84bd8d5b585ce5042.jpg8483bb2981ae1c9ba5902bcd05db78ee.jpg

So, over the weekend I found this on the last day of an estate sale, half off but got it for less $15:

Pretty beat up, but still a bit of life left in there to my eyes. But there were signs of it having been loved, and little thins like this showed me that someone needed to take care of it:

I also noticed a label hidden behind the paint that had been slathered on:

And after cleaning it as best as I could, this is what I found:

John G Pur... And I see Mechanics and Tools and Gre and New York. Does this ring a bell with anyone?

I picked up a '72 model KRA-25 a couple weeks ago. Mrs. Tynee just rolled her eyes. It's a little rough, but I think I did ok for $15. I think it will be a good project for me to learn to use a hammer and dolly, then maybe bondo/ body filler, etc. We'll see if I've developed enough patience to be any good at that stuff.

This is my Snap On Taco box (kr562) The top 3 drawers were severely water damaged, I figured it would a good project to paint, weld and restore. I've since acquired replacement slides. And have knocked off most of the rust damage using both a wire wheel and electrolysis.

I'm now at the point of paint or patina?

I was very pleased with the way my KR300b turned out. After removing a layer of lacquer primer and then using Maguires paint products, what was left of the original paint was very nice. Plus I didn't have to remove and replace the riveted drawer handles.

Picked up a new Craftsman toolbox today. In pretty decent shape other than the grease, grime and light rust. I'll clean it up and then make determination about taking the rust off. I know a lot of you guys have to kick these aside to the curb when you walk down the street but they don't show up often here. In fact, it wasn't here I had to make a 3 hr drive to get it. Wouldn't have been worth it if I'd had to pay more than the $10 it set me back.

It cleaned up a lot better than I expected. What period were these Craftsman Crown logo toolboxes sold?

Nice! Where did you have to go to pick it up?

How do a I upload a picture from my IPad?
Also how do I change upgrade so I can view 3rd party pictures?
This may not be the correct forum for these questions, but I was going to upload some vintage tool boxes.
I tried uploading the picture as a file, but it would never finish uploading???
Thnx John

The best way I've found on this forum is through the "Manage Attachments" button under Additional Options on the reply page. Under "upload file from your computer," tap browse, and navigate from there. If this is the process you followed and it never finished loading, then I don't know what to tell you.

I got it to load, but picture appears sideways on the GJ thread??
John

I THINK that's from turning your iPad sideways when you took the pic. It will correct this when you are viewing your photos on your device, but when you upload them, it rotates them to the "true" orientation? Take a look at the photo on the iPad and see if you can rotate it there, how to do that may depend on the version of iOS you're running. Then when you update it here, it should be the correct orientation, I hope.

I ran into this Snap-On dolly cart today. Very practical. Small hardware and parts compartments under the lid inside the top thing. Well-partitioned drawers, including a removable tote tray. Guy wanted $100. Though sorely tempted, I didn't buy it. It's straight and the drawers are square, but it needs to be blasted or strip-sanded and repainted. The finish is in terrible condition. I don't think the bar on the back is original. It's welded on and appears to have been added to hang stuff from. I could be wrong. I'm no expert on this era Snap-On boxes. Maybe it's original and has been repaired. But I don't think so. I may change my mind and talk myself into it if it's still there tomorrow.

Smart phones and tablets are notorious for uploading pictures in the wrong orientation but it's an easy fix on a PC.

Here's your box in the correct orientation. Welcome to GJ!
