Utah...SNOW BLOWS!
Join the club. Mine was so swollen yesterday I could not walk. Today, still sore but at least I can walk with a limp. I was trying to roll up a large tarp and twisted it in the wrong direction. Hope it heals up soon.

Man, don't ya just hate injuring yourself doing something so simple? I hope both you & Ggg will be able to heal up soon.

Very nice. Everyone should have a Bridgeport to replace headlights in their coach.:bounce:

What size and year of Discovery? Cummins ISB or ISC?

Last night PM'd my welders and gave them their annual cleaning and waxing.

Also started on my wall mounted metal storage rack. Trying to get it completed by the weekend so I can move on to the next item on my list.

Also, what size is your Bridgeport table? Looks like a 9x42 or is it a 9x49?

It's a 9X42 -- I've had it for a very long time and will probably be buried with it.

Looks like the other head light bracket needs a little rework later this weekend. as the signature, reads below, Without a quality Mill, lathe and welder I'd be lost making the stuff I do.

Don't even have a claw hammer, Wood is not my thing, but all tools are cool.

how often do you rotate out?

Added another 100,000 calories in staples to our food preps. 1gal mylar bags, in a new galvanized trashcan on a wheeled base so it's easy to move around, rubber gasket added to the lid, lid strapped down with a bungee cord across all the handles. Been doing this for ~5yrs, never a single insect.
80# of white rice and 50# of AP Flour, this time. About $40 for the goods and about $40 to store it this way. Took about 2hrs to repackage things.

mylarfoodstuffs046.jpg

We keep a broader variety of stuff, different foods for different things, but mostly practice 'store what you eat' and 'buy it cheap and stack it deep'. And we do a lot of cooking from scratch.

The flour takes on a bit of an iron scent from the O2 absorbers, but it doesn't go bad in the ~2yrs I keep it. Any we haven't used in a couple years gets passed along to folks that really need it. The rest of the staples keep a good long time, even in my hot SoCal suburban garage.

/recent hurricane and earthquake news got me motivated to top off on water and fuel and increase our food stores. I got caught totally unprepared by the Northridge quake, was just a block west and south of the apartment collapses where most the fatalities occurred. Lost my home. It was MLK day, I hadn't even bothered to gas up sunday night like I usually did for my commute. I had nothing. I've been a prepper ever since.

Thanks Dittle. I got it from Amazon because of the Prime. On top of that one locker came without hardware (feet) so Amazon gave me a $400 refund because they didn't have any spare parts or replacement cabinets to send. I even said save the credit for someone who needs it, but they insisted. I thought that was great, because I was honestly looking to see if they had the parts laying around. If they didn't I would have been fine, but $400 back was even better.

The cabinets are way better than I expected. They are pretty solid, come well packaged, and look amazing. All I had to do was put the feet on (the ones that actually came) and bolt everything together. I didn't realize the tons of combinations and styles of cabinets available. I would definitely recommend these.

The air hose on my hose real is leaking, so I had to cut back a foot and reconnect it. I really need to buy a hose for it that lasts.

Routed some 1x3's so 1/4" lauan can fit flush behind it, then routed both front edges for frames. Cut all to length, ripped the lauan, and glued/fastened 1 of the 2 frames today. Will put the other one together today and start staining or painting everything. I haven't decided which way to go yet. Making them for removable access panels where some water lines and electric boxes were buried in the wall and I had to do some sheetrock cutting to fix a leak.

Jshillin, I recommend Legacy's Flexzilla hose. I put 1/2" diameter air hoses on the reels even though they came with 3/8" hose originally. I have to be a little more careful guiding the hose back on the reel but the extra flow makes a difference.

New struts, shocks (both KYB), and OEM sway bar links on the grocery getter ('07 Honda Pilot).

Those strut spring compressors from AZ worked fine, but I was so paranoid the whole time I think I'll pay a shop to swap the springs over or buy quick struts next time. Sheesh. I'm probably paranoid, but I felt like a toddler with a shotgun.

Anyway that's over. Now just to return and get the $ back for the tool.

My wife will take it for an alignment this week and we'll be good hopefully for another 100k on these parts.

The car needs a rack & pinion eventually (slight leak), but that's going to wait till I can coordinate with my friend who has lift access and has removed a Pilot subframe many times before. Will change out the front sway bar bushings while the subframe is dropped.

Joshua, I feel the same way about those spring compressors. I've used them twice and feel like I need body armor when using them. I am getting ready to do another set and decided to spring $100 for a beefier solution. I have been burned by shops in my area so I would rather do it myself safely and sell the tool when I'm done.

Yeah, Bob, I'd certainly consider something like that for next time, appreciate the tip. Possible I have some friends who would pitch in, too. Heck, do they make a bead breaker attachment?

I laughed at the body armor comment, because, no joke, I stopped just shy of putting on my full face motorcycle helmet and armored jacket.

Didn't do anything as nice as most of you but I cleared up some shelf space by hanging a few of my Chevy center caps from the floor joists.

I understand - but remember it's 2017. People sue for nothing and companies know that. They aren't playing the lottery here because the odds would **** for them and we would have heard about it by now.

I did some measuring and planning for a bracket that will support the folding ramp I bought off Craigslist last week. The ramp/bridge has to swivel out of the path to the basement door when folded and not being used as a bridge.
If all goes well this folding ramp should ma moving from the sidewalk to the basement floor "a piece of cake".
This ramp was originally installed in a Sprinter Van. The ramp has hydraulic assist.

I put up a couple shelves in the new garage for displaying the oil can collection and moves three flathead engines in there as well. I bought a new shop crane from HF and put that together so I could lift and move heavy stuff like the engines.

I replaced an exterior door handle on my wife's Escalade.
I took apart and relubed the front brakes on my Accord, and then changed the transmission fluid on it.

Built a base for my tool cart. 3/4" fir with 1x6 on top to create a level top (free of bolt heads from the casters) to place the cart on.

Nothing fancy, doesn't have to be. Going to be put to work tomorrow, hopefully it gives me a whole lot more mobility around the shop!

Three coats of clear poly on my new bench top:

Blew apart and cleaned the CMan workbench that's going to go under the new top:

And primer and paint:

First time using the HF "purple" HVLP gun. I'm no painter, but I'm impressed. For a $12 paint gun, it works well. With more and better surface prep, and some practice, this thing seems like it would lay down a pretty decent paint job.

Spent the rest of the afternoon cleaning up. Takes a while to get "safety red" rustoleum cleaned out of the gun.

Looks good from here. How was the overspray, if any?
I've got a set of DeVilbiss HVLP guns. They're still safely sitting in the box they came in. Am anxious to give them a try. It would be nice to be able to paint something and not have everything in the shop turn a tint of that color.

Now that I've replaced heater core w/hoses and replaced wiring harness for headrest speakers I figured it was time to do a quick detail on my 28 year old roadster. I've had tons of cars, trucks and motorcycles over the years (I'm 67) but this car is in a class of its own.

Took a flat tire off a farm tractor, broke it down, ground/wire wheeled the whole rim, painted it. While paint was drying, rebuilt a marvel schebler carb and reinstalled on another tractor, then replaced all 4 wheels on a skidsteer. Paint was dry enough, remounted with a new tube, then installed on tractor.

Ezriderga, I'm curious and possible you've posted about it before, so sorry if this is a repeat. In what way does this one stand out to you?

They look good from 10', maybe even 5', which is good enough for a garage workbench. Overspray wasn't bad, less than I get with rattle cans. I paint outside, though, so not real worried about it.

I stuck the old bench top (particle board) on top of a garbage can in the shade in the back yard. Ran a hose out the window from my compressor. Take a piece out, spray, take it back in, and hang it up. There was a light breeze blowing, so the overspray went out in to the grass.
