So is this where I say, "I told you so"....?!! I was trying to help you out dude!

I left knowing I was just scrubbing an afternoon. There is no way stuff like this work out for me! At least I got to visit beautiful Sebring Florida. Next time we take my wife's Genesis coupe for a track day instead.

I laid out the entire scenerio to my wife. I told her that there was about a 1% chance of actually coming home with a toolbox and I read your post to her. Her answer? "I need to get the hell out of this house, let's go."

I expected the store with 1 to have an inventory error and the store with 3 to have them in stock somewhere unknown. I'm not going to lie, when I walked in and say all there there with that old sticker I got excited!

I appreciate the advice, even if I didn't follow it. I know how I am, I would lay awake all night with "what if" in my head if I didn't go.

They are doing some crazy stuff. The Milwaukee circular saw with battery and charger went from $175 back up to $249.Also penny Marshalltown stuff on pca and hand held scanner scans regular price at self checkout.

Why would they be holding out though? Oh because most things only clearance at certain stores.

If you see the inventory online, it's not on clearance in that store. They should have listened to you yosh.

That was the thing that made me go. Sebring Florida's store has none in stock if you check that model number online. Homedepot.com said they had none in Sebring, said they were available online only for $498. No option to pick up in store, nothing. As far as HD.com knows there are no tool chests with that model number at that store.

I checked my local store PC at the pro desk. My store's price was $55.00 w/ none in stock. On the right side of the screen it showed a bunch of other stores, only 2 on the list had stock.

So the internal intranet said Sebring had three. The external website said Sebring had none.

If they showed stock when I used the external site at full price I wouldn't have taken the trip. The fact they were listed as online only when I selected these stores left enough doubt for me to see.

The $520.00 was a "clearance" price sticker too. Yellow sticker with the word clearance on it and both stores stickers were dated in May.

They marked it down in May from $548.** to clear it out but never had anymore price drops. The in store clearance discount price is more than online.

I'm not mad or anything, it was a nice drive on a lazy Sunday. I knew I wasn't getting one if those boxes, especially after the comments here. Today was day one of my search for an upgrade, I never get that lucky!

If the price is ridiculously cheap, $55 for a normally $500 box, and only 2 stores show stock and it's 2 at each, it is 99.9% because they never cleared them and they are regular price. If you go to 300 of those types of listings, you will be lucky to find 2 or 3 that are actually on clearance and really in the store and not '2 in stock' but don't really exist.

It's a waste of time, don't bother.

Is there a trick to finding these deals?

Yes, Location, location &location.

Followed by LOTS of work, and a little bit of luck. A good set of eyes helps too. (most clearance items are on the top of the racks or in departments that they don't belong in). And of course it depends how good your met team is at pulling items off the shelves. If they're good, forget about it . . .

if you want to find deals go to HD on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays two weeks in a row and check the PCA. in two weeks you will basically determine which days your local stores do their clearance drops. theres usually only two clearance drops per week per store. some stores do the first drop on Monday, some do it on Tuesday. the second drop comes on either Wednesday or Thursday. the days of the drops are usually pretty static per store. the time of the drop varies, but usually its fairly early... 9am is probably as late as I have confirmed a drop. usually the drops are done by the time they open at 6am in my neck of the woods.

basically all you need to do to find ample deals is have ppl on gj go to hd on Mondays, tuesdays, weds,Thursdays and report back here on the new drops. but the prob is that all of the ppl who know that don't come here to update prices and instead just troll bc theyre in private groups now. one such group is led by a woman named Timalina

but if you really want the best hd deals ,skip hd .03 prices altogether and just buy the auction stuff after met takes it. I actually marked a few boxes and let met take em instead of buying at .03.... sure enough the same boxes were in the auction a month later. got all of em for $1.** each instead of the ~75% off .03 prices

"As a Merchandising Execution Associate (MEA) or Merchandising Execution Team (MET) Supervisor, you will have the ability to work full-time day or night shifts (non-traditional retail hours) and contribute to three key objectives: maintain store appearance, keep our products customer ready and/or transform the store for a new season. All to drive sales and keep customers coming back to shop at The Home Depot."

I worked at hd from 99 to 04. I was in computer room/bookkeeping and did what they called back then IMA. When I did IMA had to be at the store at 0400 to do price changes and inventory counts. When I did computer room / bookkeeping had to come in at 0500 one of the first things I had to do was to change the tape on the back up system. The time they did upload download to corporate was at midnight. I know they do not have ima positions anymore at stores. And I'm sure a lot of other things have changed since I've worked there.

Husky 12 inch tech bag down to $15.00 from$59.95.Lysol wipes 45 cents

In-store sku on Tech bag?? Doesn't have one online.

Also, I had my first little issue with the store PC. I was there last night at my local HD and using the computer that is right by customer service/returns (faces outward and has a chair to sit down). I stayed on it for awhile searching different items and checking different stores. Today, I came back in after work and that computer was taken by employee chilling in the chair. Lol I wanted to check one item because I marked down the wrong store. Anyways, I checked a couple other computers but the remote store option wasn't working. Usually I just restart computer if there aren't any tabs open. Instead I went to the one in appliances where it was dead (no people around). I was on it maybe 10 min when a head cashier came up to me and said "do I need any help?" and that she saw me last night on the computer up front and I just calmly told her that I was just checking a few things. She left with disgust I think. I finished things up and went to talk to the lady at SCO that is pretty friendly and she doesn't like the head cashier either (she was telling me lots of stories lol). The head cashier came back up front and I decided to have a little word with her. I just told her that the computer up front was busy and she said "in the future, my manager said you need to use the one up front." I said "ok, no problem." We left on amicable terms. Anyways, just thought I would share since I've never had a issue before.

M18 Blower down to .03 FYI.

I had a run in the other day with a lady in the appliance section. Was on one of the stand up desks and it was going super slow. She walked over to me and asked if i needed help and told her i was just trying to look something up. She asked if i was an employee then proceeded to show me how to get on the internet.

She was being kind of bitchy and was like well that's my stuff i have open, go use one of those computers over there and pointed to the big group of like cubicle arranged computers and left me alone.

Nice.

I dont think Ive ever seen a blower KIT in any of my local stores. The only thing that comes with battery and charger around here is the string trimmer.

What are you going to do with 6 blowers?

run them in parallel on a skate board. you can go pretty fast with a few of those suckers!! you can also do some pretty cool fire and ball tricks with 6 properly aligned.
