Mine is only at the order stage, not shipped yet. Amazon shows that they expect it to arrive October 6, so I am not worried, yet.

34 dollars

Yeah thats what I saw, which is definitely not 1/3 of normal price.

Next time if you (shteii01) could post the sale price that helps determine if its a good deal and also if the deal is still going.

Thanks tho!

sadly, most of Starrett's production is now Chinese.

No it's not. Pretty easy to look on their website and see what is made where. Their cheap carpenter tools are Chinese and they have a small line of machinist tools that are, but the majority of their products are still made in USA.

The auto center punches, all their punches, in fact are USA.

Noted. I will update my original post.

I just checked my links and 18A is still at 36 USD, which is still not a bad price for it.

Looks like you're correct according to their website that the 18C is USA made. However it still raises questions to me why that would not be stamped or written on the punch somewhere. They found plenty of spare to put Starrett and 18C, but no room for a USA? I will purchase or not purchase a tool completely based upon its country of origin. Nice to see this is USA, otherwise I was just going to return it and purchase a Rennsteig, same price, which is made in Germany.

Funny coincidence. I went to use my punch, I know it's USA made but I forget what brand and it doesn't say. Well it depresses but it won't react and punch like its supposed to when fully depressed. So I went to see if I could find what kind it is on Amazon so I could decide if its worth replacing or repairing. I saw the 18C seemed like it was cheaper than I was expecting but didn't buy one.

Didn't buy one then, haven't fixed my current one, but I thought it was an interesting coincidence you posted the same thing more or less that I was thinking.

Yeah, this month has been horrible for my wallet. I got some stuff for my multimeter because the price was just too good to pass up, a bunch of SIG stuff because, again, some prices were down right ridiculous (I have a mag for P245 with busted plastic floor plate/finger rest, the whole new mag right now is cheaper than the busted part alone), and now this center punch deal.

Oh. And here is the really ironic part. The month of October is the 5% cash back for Amazon purchases for Discover credit cards... I think my Discover card will have one Hek of a workout in October...

I always use my amazon store card for the %5 back. between that and prime shipping I easily pay for the prime and the whole family watches the free movies too.
