Hey guys. I have an Atlas tire machine,a nd I'm trying to find a nylon duckhead for it. I don't need/want to spend $200 on their 'quick change' kit just to get a nylon duckhead. Has anybody found one from another machine that you can buy by itself that fits?

What is the model number of you tire machine? If you do some research, it was probably made by Coates. You might be able to find what you are looking for on EBay.

What's the duckhead look like? My hunter has a simple 2 bolt job that is easy to change. I can give you the spacing on it if you want.

Here's the shaft that it attaches to. I bought a Coats on on amazon, but it's tapered. That won't work.

Can it be modified?

Maybe? Think it may be OK to enlarge that hole? What if it moves or something?

Oh, you mean the shaft. Maybe? I'm not a fabricator, idk.... I don't want to damage it though, thats probably a way more expensive part than a new duckhead.

More research has shown that I should measure the shaft diameter where the duckhead mounts - 28.65mm. Lots of options on ebay for that, so I'll go that route and report back as soon as I have found an option that works.

Ok, here's what I would do, I would get the hunter head and some maybe .188 or .250 tubing that would fit snug over that shaft. Then I'd cut some plate to match the hunter head, weld that to the tube, and tap or weld a nut to the tube so you can put the tube on the shaft and use a bolt as a set screw to tighten against that flat on the shaft. Of course, this requires some metal working tools, but it could easily be done.

The hunter head you'd want would be the TC-3250/3500 head, it has a flat on top and attaches with 2 8mm bolts.
