Snagged this box I think is a k55r and a couple of other boxes the other day I'll be going to pick them up tomorrow and post better pictures but since I'm not very well versed in snap on what do y'all think is it a k55r or am I way off base

Found this Kennedy (620, I believe?) as part of a package deal. Cleaned it up with Murphy's, and rubbed it down with some BLO. Looks much better. Already loaded, and ready to serve for many years.

Can anyone date it based on the sticker?

Your Kennedy top box (painted green) is likely wartime. And with the (usually missing) garage door on the front. Very nice.

When you cleaned it up, was there evidence of any stenciling on the box?

I have a similar stack in Powr-Kraft, this may be the inspiration I need to refinish those boxes.

I just used bolts, I thought about trying to get some of the rivet head bolts but it's fine like this for me.

I got this older craftsman box a few days ago for 50.00 with tools at auction. Even had a large snap on pickle fork tucked away. Had to power wash it and remove all drawers dig out wrenches stuck in there, not sure of year but seem very heavy for a craftsman box. Might repaint outer shell drawers are perfect.

Hello and good morning to all. I found the garage journal by researching a small Britool socket set, which was given to me yesterday.
Written on cover box is "MIDGET SOCKET SET". inside is a crinkly red and black steel tool box 22x85x26 mm, marked No 73 with 20 sockets 9/32" drive, ratchet,flexable extension,7"extension,tee bar ,and swivel. All unused, sockets are marked up from MH375 -MH152.
Something I have not come across before. Assistance would be great.

CATEX: first off welcome to Garage Journal. secondly you are posting in a TOOLBOX thread so might i suggest you post your question over on a thread talking about those sockets? or if you can't find a thread and you think they are over 50 years old then start a thread here in the vintage tools section.

also when posting questions if you could post up as many pictures as you can with questions about what you are hoping to find would help. such as what year do you think these were made? what is the status of Britool? or if you want value the regular members are not likely to do a full appraisal for you even if it wasn't your first post so check Ebay or other sites that sell tools and see what the going rate is.

Drive no I went looking for plomb and the guy had been storing his grandpas tools from the 40s and 50s for about 30 years and made me a smoking deal on everything he had just to get them out of his way and I couldn't turn it down I hauled 2 truckloads out of there with the intent of keeping some and selling some to recoupe the cash . more pictures to follow this weekend

I have the exact same box and they are very heavy! I think yours may be slightly newer as it has a brighter red paint! I like how yours has the emblem on the drawer hinged cover where mine does not have one! I am wondering if your paint is wrinkle finish or if it is smooth? Also if you look closely at your handles, the grooves should be highlighted with white paint!

I keep buying trays like that when I run across them. Of course, not many have Proto on them...

MAC or Snap-on still sell them. I'm sure there's others out there too but they're pretty damned expensive.

The Proto socket trays are so unique because the logo is a riveted badge, not painted on. Too cool!

I flipped a '72 model Proto with the same drawer layout but a little different top till area. Had 1 socket tray, the large tray, and a box full of 1/4" drive stuff along with a similar vintage 3/4 drive ratchet and 6 or 8 sockets. I cleaned it all up and added some cork to the drawers, and doubled my money on it.

Glen: can you post up a few more pictures with the cover off too? BEECH made a lot of boxes up in Canada so that might be one option, but until we see the handles, drawer config and the slides these all look somewhat the same.

The 3 drawer is the most common of the bunch - not that it's common.

Two things to consider. 1) Condition, condition, condition. If it needs much work, cut the value in half. 2) What part of the country are you in? Different locations command different prices.

If that were here in the Pacific NW, you could probably get $75 - $100 for it in serviceable condition and twice that if it's mint. But that's because there are a few of us stupid enough to collect gray & red Craftsman tool boxes. In a place with a smaller population, I couldn't tell you.

***** to miss out on those. I got home yesterday from running some errands and checked CL. It had been 45 minutes since a Craftsman gray & red 2-drawer toolbox and a 3-drawer middie, plus a 5-drawer red roller were put up for sale. Asking price was $100. I sent several emails as that was the only contact. Indicated I'd buy them immediately. Few hours later it was taken off. Would have been my first 2-drawer toolbox and middie.

Hopefully, we'll both hit the jackpot the next time!

Hi all. At least I know that the photos are working!! The box has 3 small drawers side by side, the middle one bigger than the other 2. Then there are 3 other drawers that are the width of the box. The bottom one being a bit deeper than the other 2. The photo shows the small drawers. (I hope). Right now its in pieces as I am trying to restore it. I'll send photos of the slides and handles when I get home. Thanks

Definitely looks like the older craftsman crown logo to me.

I am going to suggest that the center drawer pull looks like a Beach. possibly made for Craftsman.
