You'll be hard pressed to find a better deal on casters in general unless you're really lucky.

I think this is an opportunity for someone in the Phoenix area :

Disc and Belt Sander - $20 (Ahwatukee)
https://phoenix.craigslist.org/evl/tls/d/disc-and-belt-sander/6329273580.html

This is a very old but restorable heavy duty sander. Was a gift to me from an old friend whose attic was too full. I simply do not have room or the time to bring it up to snuff. If my shop was bigger it would stay.

Here's the deal: I want someone to make this thing useful again. The motor works! Don't know how big but perhaps 2HP? I can look if you are interested. Belts are available in its size right now at HD or Lowes. The bearings seem ok. The old wood platform needs a complete redo and all of the components of the sander could use some attention. I don't know how old it is but it could easily be 50 years old. It can make someone a fine tool with some TLC.

I don't need to make money on the thing I just want someone to want it. First best offer comes and takes it.

ARGH you're killing me here. I'm in the middle of restoring one of those.

Mine didn't come with the 9" disc, table, guard, miter gauge etc. It's going to cost me probably close to $200 to buy those off of ebay assuming no one else snags the ONLY work table on ebay currently and I find the rest of the pieces I need.

I need that deal in the Bay Area. I could also compensate you if you decided to pick it up and part it out for me?

That's a Craftsman 103.22350 (6" x 48" belt/9" disc) and looks complete with both tables/tool rests. They look nice and work well when refinished. The big table can also be quickly changed to the belt sander. Wouldn't be surprised if there's dark blue paint under all that dust. They make for a fun restore project.

Craftsman 109 Lathe - $200 OBO

I realize that this is pretty much the lowest end american made lathe you can buy and it's going to be priced fairly high for most people around the country. Figured I'd post it anyways.

Good luck finding a cheap lathe in the Bay Area. I've been searching for years and still haven't been able to snag a decent smaller one for cheap. Granted a lot of the machinist forums consider this one not even decent...

Does it have a hydraulic feed or is it a spring?

Big spring

57TWPW,

Not sure if you are aware but the rules for this thread dictate that members can't push their own craigslist sales ads in this thread nor should it be done via another member. If we did it would probably get out of hand and we would most likely lose impartiality from posters on this thread and probably a lot less killer deals.

We all have stuff we would love to sell. GJ does have a classified section.

Thanks for your understanding

Going to take a gander and say this is a good deal. Used tool box prices seem to be all over the map though so I don't know.

Oakland Hills, CA

Snap on Tool Box - $300

Oh also this.

Sonora, CA

Craftsman 100 or 150 floor standing drill press - $100

Appears to have a custom? slow speed setup on it.

This is exactly what I want. However, I don't really want to drive 3 hours one way to get it...I might change my mind this weekend. We'll see.

I am 2nd on his list. I was originally 1st ( Gift for Nephew, turns 21 in Dec )
I had an appointment scheduled this afternoon.
He texted me back that a guy from Santa Cruz offered him $600.00 for it and wanted to give me a chance to counter or match his offer. I thanked him for the opportunity and said I will yield to your $600.00 offer and that I was still interested if the other person does not meet his commitment. He wanted to know what would be my best offer. I recommend that he should accept the $600.00 and cautioned him that his offer my be a ploy to give himself first opportunity and a possible attempt to offer you much less than his original offer.
.... He thanked me and said he will give the other person until 7pm today and will get back to me if the other person does not show up.

2 Free vises in SF Bay Area

(I am 400 miles away right now, or I would be arranging to pick them up instead of posting)

A Babco bench vise and a second one, what looks to be a Desmond Stephans carpenter vise.

https://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/tls/d/2-free-vice-clamps/6336116978.html

I live very close to the seller and could pick these up (not that I need more vises). Any input on the quality of these two vises? I know that many Babco's were built outside of the US. It looks like the Desmond Stephans is a W6 (6"?), anybody know if it has a quick release function?

I shot the guy an email about the two vises and left my number after it was up for about 30 minutes. Didnt want to text him as it was getting late.

That Babco vise is quite avg., it's closer to a Harbor freight than a Wilton bullet but probably works ok. The Desmond wood vise is much more interesting, the wood handle is really nice and in good shape; I would say it's a more desirable vise compared to the Babco.

Thanks for the information. I already have a Morgan 300A which I restored, it seems comparable to the Desmond. I could try to pick up the two vises in the ad if anybody is interested in them.

Go get 'em :3gears:

If you don't want to hold on to them, I'd trade you something for them.
84scrambler seems to be first in line, but with C/L you never know how sellers will play their cards.
I agree with macgee that the Desmond is more interesting, but the Babco might make a good user for an average guy. Most Babcos that I have seen are marked Oakland CA but not made in the USA. Since the Babco offices were in Oakland, they apparently figured it was OK to cast Oakland into the side.

Lista/Vidmar type 7 drawer cabinet for $60 (North Hollywood, CA)

Just posted, call him and go get it.

I do not recognize the the handles, they could be aftermarket but for sure that is a high end Lista/Vidmar/Lyon/Nu-Era type heavy capacity ball bearing drawer cabinet. Has the fork-lift lifting slots. I think it's a Nu-Era which are very good.

I wish I had the space for it.

Macgee with another fantastic find. I would be on my way if I had any hope of having space for it. ****. Has casters and a push handle, too. Ugh you're killing me.

The seller contacted me before 7PM and stated he sold the boxes with an almost new Harley Davidson leather jacket for $500.00. He did admit that the buyer tried to get him to accept less. The seller thanked me for all my words of caution, he said it really help. He got the vibe he was a flipper and stood his ground. I probably should not mentioned this, without asking, he sent me a short video from his home security of the buyer and his vehicle. I immediately recognized the buyer and vehicle who I know is a GJ member from a prior meeting a little over a year ago from a past CL transaction.

I.K.N.:
Sorry you missed it. As you might know, some Harley jackets sell for $500+ on eBay so that guy got an even better deal if the jacket was that nice.
Now we can wait a few days to see if the boxes reappear on C/L for $1000

Warning

The grinder is not a Baldor. It is not the same grinder advertised. I could not find a name on it. The seller got mad and told me and my buddy to leave when
my buddy tried to take a photo of it.
The seller is a guy that makes barbecues on Aptos Street in Aptos.

Saved me a trip. Thanks!

The seller sent a pic of another grinder he will sell for $40.00.
I'll post the pic he sent me, but I can not guarantee the authenticity.
