"I think that collecting Snap-on is still operational" Nope. All you get is an error message.

Works for me too...........that's a relief since I've not really done any work on my snap-on section because they had it all covered!

Got the following at an Estate Sale last week.

20170725-02.jpg 20170725-03.jpg

If the Collecting Snap-On Web Site is correct, I think the box dates to 1931-1933. The 9/32-inch tools within are incomplete and there's a few things in the box that are not a part of the set.

Found a few more sockets and parts for my midget set, just about complete now bar the spinner and a few sockets,

However i found a M-4m socket so now I'm on the look out for the rest of the very rare metric snap on 9/32 sockets (super annoyed as i missed out on a m-5m recently, because ebay didn't notify me) also i got a couple of BA sockets.. collecting snap on doesn't mention them so assume they aren't all that common?

View media item 74460

Also in the process i picked up this set, which is in fantastic condition, has all the normal sockets, plus some special and deep sockets.

Most interestingly despite all the parts being 41,42 and G coded its all chrome plated.. I didn't realize they did any chrome plate midgets or parts in this era, certainly not G coded stuff?

sadly no tin with it, if it ever had one, so something else to track down, anyone know if they did a tin that could fit the whole set?

The ba and mm 9/32 are listed in the 38 and 39 cats. The mm are hard to find, I only have 4 of them

yeah, was surprised when i found they made them really, hence me being stoked when a couple turned up on ebay which were both wrongly listed as 1/4 drive.

Really hope the person who won the auction for the 5mm was a collector who knew it was 9/32, and it doesn't land up thrown out when it doesn't fit their 1/4 ratchet  (it only went for £5, far less then i was willing to pay for it)

Here are some 1944 ratchets that came in some Thorsen sets that I bought recently. One is 1/4" drive and the other is 3/8".

Picked up a 21/32 not guar today. No name or date. Of the not guars I have, the 3/8 flexible extension has no name just like this.

Admittedly, these are terrible pictures. I ran out of room on the memory card so didn't get these by themselves. I paid $1/ea

- Blue Point No. 2225 DOE wrench. This thing looks ancient. I can take better pix if anyone is interested.
- Snap-on F-4-D "Ferret" speed wrench (top of the picture). The business end was really rusty and pitted but the handle turns as smooth as the day it shipped.

Unfortunately, I had to remove some of the finish with a wire wheel to make the stamping readable. I was surprised to see that "Blue Point" was plural - but maybe you're not?

It reads: "-> Blue Points Chicago <-"

The only thing I can see on the back side are the sizes of 11/16" & 25/32" (I think).

Are all the 'points' wrenches that old?
This one had me wondering, it looks like it has the anti slip wiggles, but I suppose it could just be really worn.

Estate sale finds this morning.

Blue point and Snap-on DBE wrenches and a very old looking set of "Blue Point Supreme" punches, some of which are in a roll that I think is original. A couple of the punches have been replaced - probably under warranty - with newer Snap-on punches. Paid less than $1/ea.

I learned something new today. I spotted this Snap-On No. 75 ratcheting DBE wrench and I was perplexed by the wartime logo. I was expecting the 50's logo. When I saw the "E" (1944) date code, and the finish, it sent me to the catalogs, where I discovered that these were introduced in 1933! These tools aren't in any tool-sets I collect, I was not really familiar with them until now, and I had no idea they were wartime. They always seemed later to me. Nice surprise. Now I'll have to keep an eye out for the other two size combinations in the set.

Is blue point allowed here

Yes! They are considered one and the same.

I'm sure I'll be corrected if I'm wrong, but I believe that prior to the practice of naming outsourced tools Blue-Point, Snap-on used the Blue-Point name on (at least) the wrenches they made. I don't know when they changed that practice, but I have no doubt the Snap-on junkies will chime in.

Posting pictures of a snap on 10 ton arbor press and some of the accessories that I have to go with it. Included in the pictures are pages from a 1965 snap on catalog for reference. What is neat is the hydraulic ram screws into the press, the ram can be taken off the arbor press and used for frame straitening.

My weekend Snap-on find. A 3/8" drive Snap-on "Ferret" F-70N ratchet, with no finish. I don't know Snap-on all the well, but I'm guessing war-time. Is it a government contract or consumer sales ratchet?

Nice Riley.
Its probably war era but some late 30's 1940 tools were zinc or cadmium plated so it could be from that time.
Personally I like the N version better than the latter F70m because they tend to be just a bit smaller.
Edit: just looked at the E date code so your rat was made in 44. :)

Here is an early 1" 6 point socket I got with a bunch of other tools on Thursday. It is apparently from 1931, 5/8" drive and has had a pretty hard life. I've included a page from the 1931 Snap-on catalog.

Does anyone have one of these round head ratchets? I bought one when they first came out. It failed in about two weeks. I took a credit for it and bought two pear head ratchets so I would not be without if one failed.

Thanks for the reply. I was really disappointed with the one I bought and had never seen one since. Since I bought mine when they first came out they may have had growing pains.
