I had no idea these existed till I had to borrow my dad's PEX crimper for emergency plumbing repairs this weekend, and he handed me this to go with it.

A pex crimp ring remover. Saved me at least and hour and much frustration compared to my usual technique of trying to use a dremel to carefully cut off the old ring, especially in cramped hard to reach locations.

It's amazing how a cracked valve that's been installed for almost 3 years chooses the Monday of a long weekend, when everything is closed to finally let go and start spraying water everywhere. (I had no idea it was cracked until yesterday). ARRRG!

As someone who is totally comfortable sweating copper joints and also working with PEX (now that I know the easy way to remove the crimp rings), I'd say they both have their place, but the learning curve is shorter with PEX.
