Well, I just Pulled the trigger on the LED Bulbs ( Page 1) Ordered 50 bulbs.....

I also entered the code and got the 10% off....made a really good deal even better :)

Now if 1000bulbs would send me an email saying they will give me a price break on 24 fixtures I will be good....even if it is to match the september $25 gift card they were giving I will take it. $25 off is $25 saved to put towards my next Garage Project

Well, got 1000bulbs to offer me a 5% discount $10.44ea. down from 10.99 on the 24 fixtures.
***UPDATE SEE #976 Below***
JoeMayo look at post #944 next page back. To see how they look.

The LED bulbs are from the Front Page I am just looking to get the fixtures from another place a bit cheaper but not much once shipping is added.
You might want to put in the number of Fixtures you want in each site and look at the checkout prices for both to compair.

1)Bee's has free shipping but Fixture prices are alot higher.
2) 1000Bulbs have cheaper fixture prices but charge for Shipping and the farther away from Texas the higher the rate to a point where it is better to go with Bee's.

Well, my Fixtures have Arrived :bounce: From 1000Bulbs
Super fast Delivery Time....Dallas to Houston is only a few hundred miles.....

Took a few picks of the new arrivals.
Each of the 4 big boxes had 6 fixtures (in their own boxes) centered with Peanut cushioning around the outside for protection.

Great Job of Protecting the Fixtures. the outer box would have had to take some serious thrashing to damage the inner boxes and fixtures.

Will post more when I install these in a few weeks....

Does anyone know if there are underside tabs for the fixtures sticked here? LSS2XT8USE4803

I see the side tabs in the images, but I can't find a shot of the underside to see if I can run cabling that way. So I can do it through the sheetrock instead of off the side, for a cleaner install.

Thanks for sharing! I was going to get a call in and try to setup a GJ coupon code when I got my lights, but delays have prevented that. Coupons FTW!

What you are seeking, I think, is a conduit knockout on the back of the housing. I don't think I've ever seen a surface mount housing without one. I can almost see it under the lamp holder in this pic from cory58 post 835 (link):

Plantonic, Can you confirm that the below products are what I should be buying for my project based on recommendations you have made others? If so what kelvin bulbs are those? Thanks for your time.

120° Beam Angle
$6.99 ea.
Free Shipping over $25

Maxlite LSS2XT8USE4803 75303 2 Lamp T8 LED Tube Ready 4 ft Linear Utility Strip Light Fixture Pre-Wired [Min Qty: 10]
$15.96 ea. x 10 = $159.60 (Free shipping over $95)

Plantonic Solid, Thanks for all the information you have shared on this thread. I have done quite a bit of reading but I wanted to see what you thought about my project. I have a very simple small two car garage. It measures 21'x19'. There is a water heater closet in the front left of the garage that measures 28"x67". The overall ceiling height is 8'. I want to install hardwired LED lighting fixtures. Can you recommend placement and qty of lights? There are no windows or exterior doors other than the garage door.

In another of your post you recommend the following. Is this what you would recommend for this project? Thank so much for your help.

--22W LumeGen 4ft single end bypass tube

--Maxlite LSS2XT8USE4803 75303 2 Lamp T8 LED Tube Ready 4 ft Linear Utility Strip Light Fixture Pre-Wired

Thanks! I really appreciate it! I was pretty sure it would. I was telling my stepfather about the fixtures (we were discussing my garage build) and he was the one who was worrying me about it. I was telling him the same thing you said, that I'm pretty sure they all have it, but he's generally a super smart guy so he had me doubting myself. I think he was thinking of some of the real slim tiny under-cabinet type of LED fixtures, but even those I've seen with back knockouts, at least the ones I installed in my house.

Sometimes people just gaslight you man :). I knew I wasn't crazy.

Is there a lumgen bulb with that brightness at 5000 or 6000k?

I haven't been able to find anything in 6000k higher than like 2300 lumens. Am I searching in the wrong places?

Thanks to Plantonic Solid and others on this forum for information proved. After lots of reading, we had a pretty good game plan.

The ones recommended are bright. A lot more than I expected (Good thing)

I purchased the ones recommended by @PS. Our garage is 24x29 with 10.5 ceiling.

Over the weekend we installed 8 total. Two rows of four.

Roughly 4 feet in from the height (top and bottom) and 5 feet from the width (left and right). About 73" apart between them.

These things are bright. Four on one switch, each corner for day to day use. Another four in the center when working in the garage.

The page 1 LumeGen lamp was available in 5000K, but it doesn't show as a pull down option. I'd call the distributor for 5000K as their site could be wrong. 6000K is hard. Not many asking for it thus supply reflects demand.

I did a little searching and this 5000K 2400lm 20W Euri Lighting LED Hybrid ET8-1150H-20 (link) is a pretty good deal @ $10 ea. from HomeDepot (link).

pointer80 - 4000K or 5000K CCT is a personal preference thing. To each his own. If you go to the LumeGen spec sheet, they don't show 3000K as an option, yet the Lightup site only shows 3000K and 4000K as selectable options. If you want 5000K I'd call Lightup and find out if their site is just wrong. If you want 5000K and Lightup doesn't have them, I'd go with the lamps I found from HD in post #989 above. Then the question becomes - are you willing to spend an extra $3 per bulb for 5000K? If you do call Lightup, please post your findings.

Ok will do. I am getting real close to placing my order for fixture and bulbs. Thanks

I have good news and bad news.

First, I'd like to thank everyone in this thread for their input, especially Platonic Solid. His advise and link to the layout tool in post #931 was what helped me to finally order lights for my 24x36 garage.

This leads me to the bad news. I think I may be responsible for the unavailability of the 5000K bulbs. Last Friday morning, after re-reading this thread multiple times, I ordered 20 of the recommended Diva fixtures from Bees Lighting and 40 of the 5000K bulbs from Lightup. Both orders went through, and the fixtures were delivered today.

Later in the day on Friday, I ordered four more fixtures and eight more bulbs for my Dad. The 5000K bulbs no longer were an option, and I ordered the 4000K bulbs for him.

Today I checked on the status of my bulb order, and saw that the bulbs were backordered.

Fearing that my order would be cancelled, I called Lightup this morning, which leads me to the good news. I was told that the bulbs are indeed backordered, but they expect to have more in stock (7,000 of them!) at the end of October.

So, unless you need the bulbs right away, I would wait until they come back into stock.

ok, I called light up and the bulbs are available in 3000, 4000 and 5000k but they are out of stock on the 4000k and 5000k until end of the month and they are getting a 12,000 unit shiptment

Thoughts on this layout/fixture combo? I want the flush look (wife prefers it too) and saw a few others do similar things.

Framing looks like this. Some joists on 16" centers and others on 24". All run longitudinally down the garage in the 22.5' dimension. The troffers would run parallel to the length of the garage. My only concern is the front portion near the garage door that is slightly angled.

Sivart321 - This should be in its own thread. That said, I can't tell if the off-center support beam and angled front interfere with a fully recessed fixture install. A low profile surface mount custom frame for 1x4 edge lit panels would solve the support beam interference. As far as the angled front is concerned, those fixtures just have to be pulled back, which I don't see as a major lighting issue.

Sorry about that. I made another thread and realized my brain fart with the center row of lights.
