Just a head's up today is Pearl Harbor day. Kinda pissed Google remembers and changes their logo for all kinds of lame days and birthdays of artists but doesn't do anything for PH day....
It will be a somber day around town...
Still amazes me nothing on the google page?!!
They recognized the Muppet's birthday though.

I guess if Google was to put an image up of Japanese Zero's swooping down on some ships, people might get the wrong idea.

Next time I'm over there in a couple months, I will definitely try to hook up with you & take the bikes for a ride.... knock back a couple cold ones with a fellow R1 & GJ member!
My R1 is gone, my wife made me get rid of itbeer however, still flows freely

It's a Pearl Harbor kind of day, there's a little nip in the air.

I had (4) uncles that fought the japanese in the South Pacific - (1) in the 2nd Marine Division (Tarawa - Betio), (2) in the 37th "Buckeye" Division (New Guinea, Luzon), and (1) in the 14th AAC "Flying Tigers" (Burma). By some miracle, all four survived the war. I grew up greatly admiring them, and listened intently during their rare discussion (always after a number of beers) of their war experience.
I will NEVER own a japanese vehicle, and will never understand how one justifies purchasing one.
It is one's personal right to do so in this great country, but I will never understand that decision, no matter how it is justified.
Thank you for speaking up.
I was thinking the same thing. I cant think of even one 100% pure USA made computer (doesn't contain Japanese components). What about Japanese electronics? I assume you don't own German Car.

you must have a really bare house then if you cant stand anything japanese..
this was sort of a bitter time for my grandparents, both are japanese btw. my grandma doesnt really speak about it much. they lived on Kona while this occurred and she could vividly remember seeing the planes fly in. soon after my grandpa joined the Army 442nd infantry regiment and fought over seas in europe. thankfully none of my family were sent to an internment camp, but my grandma did know families that did.
our family are proud americans, and i feel honored to be related to someone that served during that time. it was tough considering we were of japanese descent living in america, but i feel that the 442nd regiment really changed the views of those closed minded individuals.
my grandpa came home with a purple heart

Matt,
Your grandparents were AMERICAN, not Japanese. They never attacked our country, or took up arms against us. Neither did all those that were placed in the internment camps. I cannot imagine the feelings that those Americans had to feel being treated like the enemy, even though many of them were American citizens.
I am well aware of the 442nd, and their steller war record- you are right to be very proud of your grandpa.
The sad fact that most (if not all) electronics are now manufactured overseas means that I no longer have a choice when purchasing a product (I bought Zienth televisions for years, until they were no longer manufactured here).
You younger guys may not realize this, but there was a day when we all had a choice when buying electronics.
For the time being, we at least have the same choice when buying tools.
I do, however, still have a choice when it comes to purchasing a vehicle.
I think that several of you are missing my point concerning japanese cars - the money goes to JAPAN. No matter if Americans build the vehicles here, the profit still goes to Japan.
Study how the japanese treated our service people who were isolated by their cowardly sneak attacks and then captured once their ammunition and other supplies ran out.
Then tell yourself that that was a long time ago when you get into your japanese car. I hope that doing so eases your mind.
In case you didn't know they are our allies now....
Just remember when you get into your American car you're supporting Mexico not the USA thanks to greedy CEO's and unchained unions in this country.
I'm pro American as the next guy but the America my grandfather grew up in doesn't exist anymore. I wouldn't be worried about what brand my car is and be more worried about the split I see with our country and where that's headed.
No wonder they are our "allies" - we have completely re-built their country (read industry), and have provided their security since the war. Do you think that this may have had something to do with their country's prosperity?
What have our "allies" done for us, other that reverse engineer our technology innovations and then undercut our manufacturing base with cheap goods? Do you really think that radios, televisions, computers, etc. were invented and developed through R&D in Japan?
How many American vehicles do you think are sold in Japan?
I get into one of my American trucks every day - the profit from all of them went to an AMERICAN corporation.
Oh, one more thing - Mitsubishi manufactured those Zeros that attacked Pearl Harbor .....
