Ok, so I have the two post lift in and I love it.

Getting ready to pull my t56 out and don't you know the floor plate for the two post is right in the way of the transmission jack.

What solutions have you guys used for this?

Floor plate is 1 3/4, I was thinking of a 2x4 "floor" over the cement with a a long piece as a ramp. Was wondering what other people had rigged up in order to be able to easily remove transmissions using a rolling high lift transmission jack under their lift.

This is kind of what I was thinking, since the hump is 1 3/4 I could do a 2x4 subfloor with a 1/4 piece of aluminum diamond plate over it and transition to ramps at the front/rear.

I don't think you even need the diamond plate or a ramp. Build a box in front of and behind the hump and let the osb span the hump. 3/4 osb will support a couple hundred pounds the span of the hump which is like 8" or so easily. Drop the trans, lower the jack and lift the trans off the jack. Trans jacks aren't heavy, you will have no problem getting it up on the platform.

I put pipe spacers between the wheels and the frame of the trans jack, high enough to clear the hump.

If it’s in a stable position I would just use it to lower it down and then pick trans up off jack.

Why use a jack? I have never used a jack with a manual transmission....

It's for more than just this car, I have to pull my suburbans trans out too among other projects. Manuals are lighter but are still a pita to get lined up just right without a trans jack. Idea is to get a system in place that makes it easy to use the high lift trans jack on many different vehicles.

oh, ok... then I would do what T_R said above. Your original post was stating it was a T56 that you needed to remove.... used to do these all the time (and still do sometimes) with no jack and no issues lining it up.

I'm getting old. I use a jack for a T56, it's kinda heavy. I use a jack for my TKO600 too. I can still shove a 4 speed up in with no jack though.
