Pexto 30" vintage slip roller

got this from internet from private seller... 30" Pexto antique roller should help in my fab projects. Had to make a stand, this is a beast... About 60#s...

here's some pictures before i cleaned it up...( finally found them ) Disassembled it, then worked it over with a wire wheel on a grinder then primered and painted it.

That is a nice find. I got a 50" one that was made in the early 50's a year and half ago. Still I have not had time to mess with it with selling the old house and shop and moving. Starting a new shop the first of the year so I can start back working.

Yes it is. The top half with out the stand weighs a couple hundred pounds. It's is big. I will look at it and see which make and model it is.

I have that rollers brother in my shop. Bought it at an auction about 20 years ago, I think I paid about $100.00 for it. I also needed to build a stand mine came lag bolted to a hunk of wood that looked like it was sawed out of a workbench. More modern slip rollers are configured so that the top roller can be tipped up so that the work can be removed without springing it apart.

How true. If you watch you can pick up some old ones really cheap. I paid about $300.00 for mine and a 4 foot box and pan brake included. Mine is a Niagara.

Looks like a standard roller, no release to lift a roller?
Still cool, I have one w/o the handle I need to study that picture so I can make a handle.

Thanks that is awesome. Was planning on a straight arm but now I don't think so. So far on the back burner I'll have plenty of time to figure it out in my head.

I would think the hardest part of making the new handle would be the threaded end matching it to the roller. Maybe weld a nut to the crank arm and drill a set screw???

Mines actually not threaded. Square drive, so simple. Or for some its simple.
I'll complicate it somehow.
