So I needed the Lisle wide range oil filter wrench, model 63250 and couldn't find it at any auto parts stores and so I ordered it on Amazon. Attached are some pictures of what I received. Maybe not a big deal, but I was just surprised after my other Lisle oil filter wrench looked flawless new. The picture with two in it is my new and old one. The old one is on the left and the new one is on the right. Hopefully my pictures load and everything lol, I haven't made a thread or posted pictures before.

Was that sold by Amazon, or just something you purchased on Amazon's marketplace? Was it sold as new?

Sounds a little like someone stuffed a used return back into the original box. I'd be giving Amazon a call about it.

In my experience Amazon is much worse than eBay for buyers. With eBay at least you can get your money back.

In my experience Amazon is much worse than eBay for buyers. With eBay at least you can get your money back.

Amazon bought out Zappos years ago, not specifically to take over their product line, but to get a hold of their customer service department. Amazon understood that Zappos had build a business culture that had a really good thing going, empowering their customer service reps to keep good customers happy, and they wanted to fold that into their own brand.

I've had several experiences like the OP's, and have never had Amazon drop the ball. The worst case scenario has been for them to ask me to put the item back in the box, slap on a new label, and send it back for a full refund. Half the time they just tell you to keep the item, and you get the full refund anyway.

If the item was sold as new, I certainly would not stand for receiving something used. On the other hand, I've purchased "like new" items from Amazon at deep discounts. The items in question guarantee that they will work, but may have cosmetic blemishes. Most times, it's just a damaged box. The few times the blemish has affected the function, they've had no problems with me returning it.

eBay is similar, though it takes much more time and effort on the buyer's part. And recently, I've had a Chinese seller weasel out of refunding me when they sent the wrong item. I'm quite pissed at eBay over this one...

There's self service options, just go to your orders and you can click return or whatever it is and select item is damaged. They give you a shipping label to send it back and put a new one to you in the mail same day. Absolutely no cost other than your time to send it back.

Just did it with a pair of channellocks this week that came monday a little scratched up, had new ones in hand by Wednesday and sent the old ones out in the box the new ones came in.

Amazon returns are super easy for online shopping.

I bought a doorbell transformer from Amazon. I am an Amazon prime member. It was sold by Amazon. It arrived in 2 days. It was in a blister pack that had been cut open, then split open and taped shut. It had solder on the power leads, and had obviously been connected. The primary winding was open, maybe connected to 220 volts?? When I contacted Amazon, they told me they would send another, and to keep it. I received a tracking number indicating it would be delivered in two days . The delivery date arrived, and I received an email saying the package had been damaged in shipment and was undeliverable and would be returned to Amazon. That was the end of it. Several days later when I phoned Amazon (yes it is possible, if you search out the number to speak to a live person , but don't expect them to speak your kind of English) I was able to ask for and receive a refund. No explanation as to why they hadn't sent another. I went to the local hardware store and bought one.
I have to add that I have been a member of Prime for several years and bought a number of things, and this is the first time there has been a problem.

I've generally done well with Amazon, but periodically stuff happens. Like when i bought a case of 12 LED light bulbs but got only 10. Customer service is outstanding though. Returns are a breeze on line.

Sh*t happens. Amazon will make it right

Just go into your Orders, and click on Return or Replace.

I think it takes more effort to make a forum post than it does to return something to Amazon. Amazon even has the option to have UPS come to your house and pick up the item

OP - just ask for a replacement. easy peasy

You don't even have to contact Amazon. Go into "My Orders", click on the itm you want to return, print return shipping label, and drop off at UPS store. Boom and done. Easy peezy

EDIT: ^^^^^Are you me?! Is this real life? LOL! One of us misspelled peezy. I'm saying it's you, but I am biased.
