Looking for a small heater to warm up my attached 2 car garage. The garage is insulated but no heat source.
I have setup my free weight system in it and want to be able to put the heater on a timer to turn on at 5:00AMish to warm it up some. I am looking at a ceiling mount like this:

I am not so concerned with heating the air as pointing it at the weights so they are not so cold to the touch.

Anyone have any recommendations?

It's all a question of the results you want -- that type of heater is designed to warm up things .. not the air. Like sitting outside for dinner on a patio -- or having a fire.

They have limited range ... it's all about output. It would take the chill of if aimed at you from not far away -- and not too cold. I had a tower one -- think 1500 watts -- for the bathroom in my first NYC apartment .... have you seen the typical NYC bathroom ?

I am not worried about heating the air. Think of the size of a standard 2 car garage with a free weight system like this in the center:

The heater would be mounted about 7 feet off the ground and about 7 feet from the back of the weight system.

I rescued that exact heater from the dumpster. The ceiling bracket was bent to sh*t and the plastic bushings were broken. I made a short floor stand for it to use in the shop.

I'll give it a try in MY garage/home gym tomorrow. Personally I use liquid chalk in the summer and lifting gloves with open fingers in the winter.
