So I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on this (I'll probably buy it anyhow), because I have a lot of love for Wera's...but then I thought. What if there is a much cooler tool guy or tool brand bottle opener that I'm not aware of...'don't want to have buyers remorse.

I have seen the screwdriver handle Craftsman and Channellock openers and those are cool.

So what's out there that's even cooler than the Wera?

I just picked up a milwaukee one on clearance at the depot for a few bucks. Didn't need it but for the price I'll keep it for in the garage. Have a dozen or so other bottle openers in the house having friends that own restaurants/bars I've remodeled for them I got a lot of free stuff from them. Also having drank my fair share of bottled malted water I've learned how to open them with just about anything I find laying around.

I just bought my boss the Klein version for his birthday. He really likes the Klein comfort grips so it was a no brainer.

Personally, i have the fully forged Craftsman version i picked up dirt cheap when they were liquidating the local Sears hardware. It is really hefty, probably the only Craftsman raised panel tool i enjoy using. Lol

I have the German bottle opener assortment from KC Tool, and I think my favorite are either the Felo Ergo bottle opener or the Wiha bottle opener.

I did just get the Milwaukee one the other day but I haven't gotten a chance to test it out yet. Maybe tonight during trick or treating I'll have a few.

If your concerned about high voltage in your bottles Wera also makes a red and yellow VDE model.

Wera 130008 VDE

I dunno about cooler but definitely more ridiculously overbuilt.

You could open a dozen bottles a day with that thing for a thousand years and it would barely have a scratch on it.

I have the Craftsman one, was buying a set of their locking adjustable wrenches as part of black friday last year and had extra points for the bottle opener. Its also good for beating people over the head because there is a lot on steel in that thing.

You could break rocks with it all day, and it would still be fine for opening bottles. Yeah, I've got two.

Not bottle openers, but I always thought these were off the charts cool!!

Less cool in person than I expected. l picked up a set of those on CL for cheap, mainly because I was there to buy a set of the aluminum Snap On tankards (those I like). The utensils are a cheap stamped stainless blade stuck into a chrome plated die-cast pot metal handle. So they're not dishwasher safe, which is why I re-sold them (at a profit) at my next garage sale. Now if they were forged from one piece of stainless, heck yeah they'd be off the charts cool.

The tankards are bare aluminum, so they too are not dishwasher safe, but they have a ceramic coating on the interior, so they're safe with your drinks. Though I use mine as a pencil cup anyway.

I have the Craftsman bottle opener. But if it's cool you want, I have this one stuck to the fridge. It's way cooler!

I have always used the bottom of a Bic.

I was down at opening day ran into some girls I knew who parked at a lot with a shuttle between Corktown and Comerica. I get on the bus with them and some guys they met on the shuttle earlier who hand out some beers. Then the guy goes "I hope someone has an opener, I lost mine." Everyone kind of sighed and started handing them back. I honestly thought it was a joke. The guys were all smoking before we got on the shuttle! I asked if they had a Zippo and the guy goes "No, just a Bic." I take the lighter, open the beers, and everyone looked at me like I performed some sort of magic trick!

Three grown men and one woman who smoked along with two women who didn't smoke, and none of them had ever opened a bottle with a lighter. :wtf:

I picked up an opener similar to the Craftsman Style (Wrench styling not Screwdriver) that was forged by Apex... it is marked APEX... Saw it in a pile of wrenches at a swap meet....

I have the Wera. It works really well. Very solid. No bending or flexing.

Are the Wiha, Felo, etc full tang? The way the bottle opener part meets the handle, it looks kinda cheap, like there probably isnt a full metal tang to the end of the handle and it might eventually just snap at the handle's start.

My favorite are the Ideal openers, they have a conduit bender, a fish tape, and a clamp meter. Unfortunately, I do not yet own any of them.
