Columbian 603 or 603 3?

I have a Columbian (Made in Cleveland) vise. Is has 603 on the side and on the underside it has "606 3'. It has a swivel base. I cannot find any information on this vise. All I see is "603 1/2" or "603 M2". I am trying to see what it is worth and get new Jaw inserts.

Any help is appreciated.

Measure the width of the jaws. The last digit in the model number corresponds to the jaw width. If it's a 603, it will have 3" wide jaws. If it's a 606, it will have 6" wide jaws. My guess is that it's a Model 603.

Numbers are often cast into the vise parts that reference what vise they are associated with and what part they are. I believe that your vise is a 603, and the 606-3 number refers to what part of a 603 that casting is.

Your vise is old enough that jaw inserts are not available anymore. Your only options are to find another vise to part-out, or have them made by a machinist - which is expensive.

If you're serious about having a set made, there is a member on our forum, KMScott, who has his own website dedicated to vise parts. Ignore the fact that the site is about Wilton vises and contact him anyways. http://www.wiltonviseparts.net/

It's a 603.

The 603-3 on the base is the part number for the swivel with three mounting ears.

If it has pin on jaws it's an 603 m2. If it has screw on jaws then it's a 603 m3
