Sears Canada is being completely liquidated by way of bankruptcy court order.

The sales have been pretty poor. Last I checked a few days ago, everything in the tools section was 10% off.

I'm hanging onto my "G" code sockets sets. Old enough to be good steel, most of mine are just lightly used. Don't expect to warranty them, got them as a spare user set to my SK and Bonney.

I don't think it's an issue for people holding USA Craftsman, since most were probably not planning to bring anything in for warranty to be exchanged for Chiwan stuff. I think they're waiting to see what SBD does. I'm holding a USA rat now that has a broken pawl hoping SBD will hook me up with USA.

I don't see what the big deal is. The average value of a screwdriver or socket I might need to warranty at sears is about $3. I'm also not in the habit of breaking my tools all the time. In 20 years I've probably warrantied 4 or 5 things at sears. It's cheaper for me to throw it in the trash and order another one online than it is for me to drive 30 minutes to sears and 30 minutes home. Who cares?

One closed by me in the States. They had something like $25 off of a large top and bottom tool chest combo. It worked out to less than a 2% discount. Somehow I managed to pass on that awesome deal.

We had K-mart next door and a Sears up the road that both went **** up in the last 2 years. I'd walk over to K-mart on my lunch breaks every few days for their last couple weeks...I don't think they lowered the list price as the % off increased...they just printed new signs and added 10% to list price every couple days. I remember seeing 50ft Craftsman garden hoses, 60% off, with a sale price $49.

I stopped at Sears on my way home and that same hose was at regular price for $49.

Even the sears outlet is a joke. I went there in search of a washer and dryer a few months ago...ended up saving about 25% buying a set of new returned units with minor scratches, but browsing through the refrigerators...major damage to most of them, to the point where the doors wouldn't even close any more, and they were marked down to $2000 from $2400. Who the hell is gonna buy a fridge so wrecked that the doors won't close for $2000?

I own a few Craftsmen tools, a full set of screw drivers for instance. Love them. My few wrenches, I think like three or four and my few sockets, largely I believe one or two 1/4 inch drives, are okay. I can't complain. I'm swapping them out not because they ****, because they don't really, I just figure anymore that if they break, I'd be forced to replace with Chinese which cheapens the name and...... I'd rather have all matching and....... be able to get USA made should one break. Otherwise, I have a 1930s Craftsman drill press that is nicely built.

You want to hear dramatic, this is right out of my TV show "Drama Town". I was replacing some 350 plus bolts on my box truck. Needed several 3/4 inch wrenches to back my newly installed nuts inside the box so I could tighten six at a time. Since the nuts were right at the floor, I need to grind off a flat spot, fairly significant on my wrenches. Wasn't going to do that to my snap on or S K wrenches. I have several of that sized Craftsman box ended wrenches that made the sacrifice. I tossed 4 of them and kept 2 in a junk box. Can show photos for verification if you like.

We have threads speculating how great the Stanley Black & Decker owned Craftsman Tools will be. We have threads about the crazy money some Craftsman tools are fetching on Ebay, and we have threads about how crappy the Asian made Craftsman tools are.
Craftsman just can't catch a break these days......

I was at the Sears outlet over in Fayetteville a while back looking at appliances. The prices seemed the same as at the regular Sears so I asked the sales guys about it. They said that yes it is a Sears outlet, but only for some items. With appliances, it was a regular Sears retailer, not a discount outlet. The only stuff that was part of the discount outlet section was **** that Wal Mart wouldn't even sell.

You’re lucky that happened so easily. The WF clear handles are now made in China. They began popping up last week at the two Sears locations I visited here in Ohio. No “WF” marks, no “Made In USA” marks. The metal shaft looks like hell and the red & blue on the handles looks different. They’re strange looking.

Relax, SBD is going to push Craftsman everywhere they can, they will honor the warranty, there will likely be lots retailers to exchange at, starting next year, they already said Lowes, and they are talking a good game on Made in the USA, no problem.

Bought a set of the Extreme Grip screwdrivers yesterday (14 pcs @ $30) and when I asked about the warranty I was told to keep the receipt and that I will need to return the entire set if one driver breaks.
