Whats up everyone. Hope you're all having a good weekend so far.

This past week at the Windows and Wheels Detailing Shop we decided to get together and shoot a "How To" video of how we go about doing our maintenance washes...with a little extra. This was definitely a team effort.

I did most of the talking/demonstrating while Daniela and Henry helped out giving me a hand with certain parts and of course our newest member Isaiah did all the filming. If you're just getting into detailing I'm sure this will help you shorten the learning curve - and even if you've been around the block a few times I think you'll still enjoy it :).

A few things I think you'll also like:

* Our super cool wash cart set up
* Some special eye candy in the back of the shop (you'll see towards the middle/end of the video)
* Foam Cannon usage (lets face it, no matter how many times you see it or use it - it's still cool)
* A full break down in the description of the video of all products used along with the dilution ratios and tools used

Add that in with my usual sarcastic humor and some great step by step instructions and I'm sure you'll all enjoy (hopefully) your overall viewing experience!

Feedback, questions, comments and suggestions are welcome as always (for the record I'm aware of a couple of editing glitches but we're working on that!)

As always thank you and hope you enjoy!

Thanks for the video.

What's the best way to get road grime or other "gritty" material off that won't simply spray off? It seems wiping it off would scratch the paint and spraying it off doesn't work so what's the solution?

Good video. I had to cringe when you sprayed that rim cleaner that changes purple. I sprayed some wheels with it and almost went in to anaphylaxis from the fumes. There's some pretty harsh chems in that stuff.

Hey man,

It kind of depends upon the type of grime. If you're dealing with something like tar, then a product such as Tar X (or a similar type of tar remover) will work. If it's just really baked in lower body grime, then a citrus based all purpose cleaner (diluted down 1:10 typically) can really help to loosen it up as well.

The main key again would be working in the shade while the surface is cool. You can hit an area with the APC, let it set for 30 seconds or so and then spray off. You may need to do a second application afterwards and then possibly use soap and a mitt to hit it again.

Depending on the type of protection you have on the vehicle (wax, paint sealant, ceramic coating) it may remove that as well. A ceramic coating can hold up to a stronger cleaner with no problem, but some waxes and even sealants may be stripped away, so be sure to re-apply some protection to those areas afterwards.

Lmao, yeah Iron X (and similar chemicals) definitely smell nasty. Not nearly as bad as some of the acid type wheel cleaner's I've tinkered with in the past (and not caustic like those types of cleaners either). Iron X works so well though that its worth the suffering lol.

Excellent video.

What kind of DI water setup do you have?

Thank you :). We rent a mixed bed resin tank from a company called Pure Tec out here in Az. It basically just runs tap water into the tank. We then have an outlet from that tank that feeds our pressure washer.

In Az our tank will get us about 650 gallons of spotless water before the indicator light on the top goes out (which indicates we need a new tank). We then just call the company and they deliver us a new tank and take the old one away.
