Hello all!

I am in the middle of restoring a Craftsman 103.0103 band saw and have some down time to ponder. I am trying to track down or duplicate the original "Craftsman" and "Craftsman Ball Bearings, America's Finest" Decals but not having much luck. I found a font online that matches the Craftsman font from the 1950's but have not been able to track down the ball bearing decal. These are the best photos I have as of now:

Here is my first attempt at making the "Craftsman" decal (still requires some tweaking).

My question to every, does anyone know/seen these decals already made out there some where?

Thanks!

Ricks Restorations reproduces anything and everything. Not sure what they use to do it, but it can be done. I have also read they will make decals for your own restoration. Not sure how true or not since it was the Internet.

A lot of guys that are restoring these old machines are using the water slide decals you can print them on your home printer and they look really good here is the art work for the bearing decal you need and a link on a tutorial on how to print the decals. Hope this helps.

I have the same problem with restoring my 0103 bandsaw. Thanks for the image of the Cman logo, now I need to figure out how to print it with white letters on a clear background. :headscrat

Here are some transparent "Craftsman" decals. :rocker: If they don't upload properly, send me a PM with your email and I'll send them direct.

Hi guys:

New to the forum, and am happy that others are working through this same issue.

What do guys think about a white vinyl sticker--something akin to what goes on the back of a car window--as opposed to trying to figure out a white waterslide decal solution that's likely still going to have a tough time standing out against the paint? I checked out a number of pictures of fully restored machines, and have yet to see one that has attempted the main script "Craftsman" decal, despite amazing restoration jobs.

"Before" shots: (Note--these include some detailed measurements of the logos. Maybe this will be useful to somebody.) http://imgur.com/a/aBDAr?gallery

Teardown/"Take-a-ton-of-pictures-so-you-remember-how-it-goes-back-together" shots: http://imgur.com/a/73wzF?gallery

Rebuild shots to date--includes some additional decal artwork not on OWWM:http://imgur.com/a/Us0vJ?gallery

I look forward to following this thread and hearing how your solutions turn out. Will be sure to post mine as well. (As soon as I finally decide upon one!) Take care!

Thanks for posting this. I am getting close to restoring a couple of old craftsman tool boxes and I wondering how I was going to do the logo.

i always thought the craftsman logo was stamped into the sheet metal on these old saws. Im disappointed that even in 1941 all it was just a decal.

Stamped would definitely be a lot nicer...my 103.0103 sticker is somehow still in good shape despite the feet on the saws being pretty rusty
