Milwaukee Portaband table. 4mm steel top, 1.6 mm aluminum checker plate frame. First attempt at aluminum tig.
Want to change to a easier nut for removal, but don't do often.
Generally works great though.
Critique appreciated....(But might be too lazy too change it! Ha ha)

Long overdue maintenance to the Simplicity lawn tractor including new front tires (which were a PITA) and swapped out several steering and suspension bushings... both really helped tighten up the steering. And the given the time of year, started the winter prep with removal of the mowing deck and next up is installing the blower.

Annual air compressor service for my 5HP Campbell Hausfeld. Change oil, completely check over, make repairs as needed and clean.
The crankcase vent has always been a problem with oil residue. So I replaced the vent with some brass fittings (first picture), and a nylon tube that goes to a vented jar (second picture). In the past cleaning the oil residue added a half hour to the job. Next year, hopefully, I'll just be wiping off dust.

Just did some straightening up. Getting ready to reassemble the major components of my transmission project once I hear back from my friend the transmission expert when he's available.

Knocked a few things off my "to do" list over the weekend.

Serviced the coach, fabricated a hold down for the audio/video switch box in the coach and made a couple more extension cord hangers. Also put my two large milk crates of drop pieces of steel and aluminum in my drawer cabinets so they are sorted and easily accessed.

Got the adult bikes up on hooks. Need to find a place for the kids bikes still. Organized more. Found out we have a leak in the roof.

Started measuring for more shelving to be added on both sides of the garage. Over the summer I built some shelving and it helped greatly with organizing... now I want to finish the job! I want to replace the shelving on the opposite side of the garage that came with it as it is mediocre at best : about 5' tall x 4' wide x 12"deep. Each shelf is 12" tall. It doesnt store much and can be greatly improved upon.

Turned the King heater on, and got the place to about 55, while outside was 33. Put tools away and sorted a bucket of bolts and nuts. Very relaxing ... no wife to boss me around :D

Nothing in the garage tonight. Was planning on just relaxing after a busy weekend.

GF calls me into the kitchen as soon as I walk into the house. Damn skylight is leaking. Not the time to do anything about it either as it's pouring rain outside. At least its right over the kitchen sink and that's where its dripping into.

I'm hoping some caulk around it tommorow will do the job. :(

Just felt like ranting.

I modified a combination wrench to fit around and under an EATON M90 supercharger. The right front sparkplug is in a difficult place, slightly under the supercharger. The supercharger is on a C69A Ford Flathead V8, in a 1940 Ford.
This is my second and final modification to this wrench.

A friend brought his portable welder over and we fixed this cracked mounting tab on my Land Cruiser transmission oil pan. This is one of the points where the armor attaches to the underside of the pan. I broke it forcing a wooden cradle onto the transmission with a jack as we were setting up to pull the transmission.

He's a bit more experienced with the welder (a I did a bit of stick welding decades ago), but neither one of us is a welder by any stretch, so this was a great low-stress part for him to fix. I cleaned it up and painted, mainly for rust protection, as these bits will be covered once the armor is installed.

Excited to try welding again after so long, hope to add this to the tool kit and skill set at some point.

Painted some old garage sale speakers to match the garage scheme, just need to install cleats on the back to hang them.

Also gave the Jetta a good wash and shine.

How are you mounting the speakers? I have 2 similar ones I need to mount in my garage. I was going to build corner shelves but it seems u have a good idea. What do u mean by "cleats"

Changed the oil, air filter, fuel filter, plugs, boots and rotated the tires on the daughters car. Unfortunately after getting the rear up on stands, I broke my floor jack. So I had to spend an hour or so fixing that before I could continue.

Me personally I didn't do anything yesterday...

But I loaned my neighbor my floor jack, breaker bar, socket, and torque wrench so he could take off his wheels to plasti-dip them... Oh, and a small space heater.

I'm such a nice neighbor...

Finished studding out the side wall and roughing in electrical preparing for insulation and wallboard.
Would have been a lot quicker if the floor was closer to level and the block wall was closer to plumb. No one will see it now, and I hadn't noticed that it was out of plumb in the 14 years I've lived here.

Didn't get a chance to even step foot in my shop last night. We are in the middle of an audit at work and I got home late and looks like tonight may be the same.:(

***** too because my shop is what helps me to keep my sanity from things exactly like this.

I'm with you on this one ..... work drives me nuts and my shop gets me back to a good place.

Good luck with your audits and hope you get back to your shop quickly.

Thank you.

Glad to see I'm not alone in my wacky way of thinking about my shop being what keeps me in a good place. I figured that would more than likely be a common theme on garagejournal.

Today I dug a trench for my subpanel feed. The hole on the left goes through the back of my main panel in the basement, the hole next to the air conditioner is the garage wall. I'm running conduit down the wall, direct bury underground, and conduit up the other wall. Trench is 24 in deep. This was easier than hacking up the drywall in the finished basement.

Staked in this spacer sleeve making this shifter linkage the first real piece of Land Cruiser transmission to go back IN the case. So excited to be starting re-assembly!

I have a French cleat system installed throughout my garage (here's my build thread: https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=255816 ). Just need to mount a cleat to the back of each speaker then hang it.

You could do a lot worse than a pair of advents!! Nice

Think I paid $5 for the pair IIRC.

Putzin in the garage today as I came out here and turned up my heater about an hour ago. I love having a heated garage!!!
It was about 53F in there with a outside temp of 30F, in a hour it got to 68F...a bit to warm but no worries....

I put some freebies from SEMA away...yes, in the luggage all the way home...TSA was curious, had a checked bag pamphlet inside.

Does oil actually go bad in 3 months?

been back working on my stepdaughters '05 buick again...

2 weeks ago i replaced the radiator that decided to start leaking when she took the car in for emissions testing...

she's been back to test it for emissios 2 times since then, and been rejected because the monitors havent reset...

sometime last week (without my knowledge) the CEL came on. i took the car over to my GM buddy, he plugged in his techII and found the cause of the CEL.

bad thermostat

picked up the parts yesterday afternoon, took the day off work and tore into it this morning...
bad thermostat? nahhhh how 'bout NO thermostat !!:eyecrazy:

got that taken care of and found the throttle body gasket with a piece missing, and the void packed full of silicone :willy_nil

got it finished a couple hours ago, and took it for a drive. coolant temp is steady, no fluctuation now....just gotta clear the CEL and put some more miles on it to get the monitors to reset..

Besides looking bad *** and being two piece. The front rotors weigh about 16.5lbs compared to about 20.5lbs stock. Most of the weight is reduced from the hats. Rear rotors are 11lbs compared to stock 18lbs.

Total weight from all rotors is about 21lbs of rotating mass. Ideally I should just turn this into a track car and gut most of the interior and **** that isn't needed but.... I did that with my track bike and now face the reality of trying to find the parts that were removed to sell it back as a "street" bike...total pita..lol

Another night of not getting much done in the shop. Arrived home late from work so I asked my son to go with me to assist in getting a new camera for video's. During my last video I think my old point and shoot camera headed south on me. Volume started acting up and the shutter was doing some weird things so it's time to upgrade.

Flurries today in the metro Chicago area as we got some lake effect snow...barely got a dusting out here in the suburbs.
So....time to prep the snow blower for another season of clearing my 140 foot driveway.
Drained the oil and added new, sanded all the chipped paint/rust areas and painted the area with oil based paint, new scrape plate from Sears Parts direct, and new hardware for the scrape plate.
attachment.php

Also found a missing shear pin so I had to dig around to find the 2 packages I bought 2 years ago...but I did find them!
attachment.php

The mower is drained and ran dry with staybil...put away where the snowblower was. A productive day.
Tomorrow, swapping out summer tires on the Mustang coupe (wife's Mustang gets driven year round) for snow tires and taking it in to check the alignment.

I bet the missing shear pin came from that bent auger on the right side. :lol_hitti
After replacing God knows how many augers over the years, I really can't say I blame you for not wanting to tear half the machine down...
