Very useful set pliers ^^^

Used them today to pull a fender liner on a Chrysler 300. The spring loaded ones for the Christmas tree style fasteners are a life saver! Didn’t get to try the other pliers for the two piece style fasteners though.

So the dolphin wrenches I ordered on Saturday got delivered today at like 10:00am. Ya gotta luv summits shipping when it comes from sparks NV.

Over the weekend one of the guys here resurfaced an old thread from 11 looking for an SAE set like this. While at SEMA I happen to ogle a set from T&E and whatta ya know someone else here found a metric set on sale from summit for like $28.00. So for that price it was a hell ya moment.

Interesting wrench to say the least. I like the extended box end but I'm not certain I care for the tapered open end. Also there is certainly a difference between these Astro units and the T&E's I held at SEMA. The handles are noticeably sharper. But I guess we'll see how they actually feel in action.

Finally made the leap and bought myself a TIG. HTP Invertig221, this is the dual voltage model with the water cooled 20 series torch. I also bought the Harbor Freight Vulcan cart/cabinet it's sitting on. This machine is the real deal, and any issues I have welding with it will be operator related, not machine related. Really excited to use it more and the people a USAweld were great to deal with.

Nice rig!

I have an older HTP mig welder and a HTP plasma cutter. I agree about USAweld being great people to deal with.

Very nice. I've enjoyed watching Eric O. and ScannerDanner use their Picos. Very capable and handy tool that can show you so much. Color me envious!

It's been quite a while since I've taken the time to post here; here's what I've bought over the last six weeks or so. It's kind of a lot... :thumbup:

View media item 76440
M18 2767, Snap-on CTR761, some gasket scrapers, that damn 19mm swivel the set doesn't include, and a Streamlight holder. The ratchet and the impact are both absolute killers, and I did get a chance to play with the M12 Fuel ratchet before I bought the Snap-on. The M12 still didn't feel as strong as I would like.

View media item 76436
Snap-on flank drive plus, 10-19mm. I've already run into two occasions where the open end of these busted loose a fastener that my coworker's Matco had started to round. I'm convinced, they're worth the money for professional use.

View media item 76443
Picked up the Snap-on line wrenches - I keep hearing that they really are the best, so, well. My Snap-on guy is $280 richer. I also added the 21 and 22mm to the FDP set.

View media item 76444
The gasket scrapers are in another picture as well, there's some overlap for insurance pics, but I cherry picked three of the hose picks that seemed most useful, as well as one of the trim pad tools. I'll need to get the larger trim tool as well.

View media item 76441
Sunex line wrench crows feet and magnetic impact sockets, some Lang pinch off pliers, and some pawn shop Snap-on pliers

View media item 76442
It's about damn time I bought my own filter cups, so I went for the bigger 17 pc. set.

View media item 76438
GP 1/2" swivels, another pawn shop score. Well loved, but I have a local tool store that warranties GP. Couldn't pass it up for $20.

View media item 76437
Fluke 179 kit, another pawn shop score. Some of the leads are a little tired, and I've been eyeing the TLK281 kit. That'll likely be coming soon, or maybe the Pamona equivalent.

View media item 76439
Finally got my own spill free funnel, Napa had them on sale.

View media item 76445
I've found that I prefer Snap-on pliers over Knipex for anything other than the dikes, Cobras, and Pliers wrenches, so a lot of the Knipex is going home. I got these Channellocks from my Matco guy, actually the only Channellock tool I own. I'll be using them alongside my Snap-on slip joints; we'll see who winds up at home.

Is there a difference between flank drive and flank drive plus ? And you really thought the electric ratchet was worth it eh ? I have all DeWalt and was thinking of grabbing the Milwaukee. But if I’m going to have one charger that’s different, maybe it will be snapon :O

Flank Drive is for sockets and Flank Plus is for the open end of wrenches if I understood my SO dealer. The wrenches really do bite hard on bolts that other tools would give up on. Is the ratchet worth it - I bought one too, in green! It comes to ergonomics as well as cost. If you are invested in SO's battery system and you have a good dealer, the cost isn't nearly what it is made out to be. The other thing for me was the trigger - I could not live with the old M12's metal trigger (a former coworker had one). When you consider how much of your waking hours you spend holding on to tools, it may be worth it to you to find a grip that works.

There are flank drive wrenches as well, flank drive itself is just what snap on calls their off corner engagement. The "plus" refers to the open end of the wrench which has "teeth" for biting into fasteners.

I love the flank drive plus, they're not cheap, but to me they're worth every penny.

Hi guys,

Here is my haul from the last month or so:

Carlyle Wire Stripper Pliers (Made in Taiwan)

<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/45102494@N02/38175335746/in/album-72157690312157736/" title="IMG_20171105_151053"><img src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4501/38175335746_ce0b795c6e_b.jpg" width="375" height="827" alt="IMG_20171105_151053"></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/45102494@N02/38230753091/in/album-72157690312157736/" title="IMG_20171105_151120"><img src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4492/38230753091_b30368efe0_z.jpg" width="620" height="333" alt="IMG_20171105_151120"></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

SK 90 Tooth, 3/8" Drive Ratchet (Made in U.S.)

I purchased this ratchet from Lakeshore Tool & Supply in Lorain, OH for about $70.

Positive: I love how smooth and lack of back drag SK engineered into this ratchet.

Negative: The ratchet locked up on me from very light use. I opened the ratchet up. I cleaned the ratchet and its components with brake cleaner and lubed it with Mobil 1 0W-30 synthetic oil.

It now ratchets like a champ!

Carlyle 15pc, 1/2" Drive, Metric Stubby Impact Socket Set (Made in Taiwan)

I purchased it last month for $54 from NAPA's quarterly Real Deals sales flyer. The height difference (1-3/8") between these stubby impact sockets and regular height impact sockets is noticeable.

Thanks for clearing that up guys! I’m not thrilled with my Mastercraft wrenches they’re super flex and soft. Full of gouges and nicks already. And that trigger on the Milwaukee ratchet always concerned me thanks for the input on it.

I ended up grabbing these today.(shallow metric 3/8” drive) Got them on promo couldn’t refuse. I also managed to sweet talk him into a sweater they had on promo with their new 3/8” flex head ratchet.

Finally got my new lid tonight. Wow is this thing sweet. I bet I spent an easy half hour getting the head gear adjusted and man is she comfy. The one feature I like the best is I can adjust how far the shield is away from my face. Between this and the right magnifying lense I might be able to really see my welds again

Another few bits of kit arrived today;

Picked up one of the new Halfords advanced bit sets for the home box, comes with hex, torx and spline in a mix of 3/8 & 1/2" drives, good mix of sizes too and all with their lifetime warranty;

2mphbty.jpg

I also made an order from Amazon for some Wera joker spanners, on offer for £45 for the 4 piece set (19,17,10,13) and a set of knipex wrench pliers for the home box. Ordered at 9pm last night and they arrived by 1pm today, top marks for their Prime delivery :D

339ho1z.jpg

Lastly i was having a look through costco yesterday and noticed they were selling packs of wool socks for about £10 for a pack of 3, i needed some new winter work socks so picked 2 packs up, only noticed they were made in the USA when i got them home, very comfortable and warm with boots on;

dlkyv9.jpg

Also placed an order with Primetools for some Facom and Beta kit. Looking at a few bits from Tekton and Toptul also.

Very nice! The Joker wrenches look nice and I'm dying to get my hands on the pliers wrench.

Costco for wool socks? I thought all Scots knew how to knit wool stockings? :bounce:

Unfortunately the misses refuses to knit them for me but costco are a good substitute.

The jokers feel excellent in the hand and the ratchet end is extremely smooth, maybe even more so than the Facoms i'e had for a few years now but it'll be hard to tell until i get them to work on Monday. The 17mm will be getting a fair bit of use at the weekend however since i've got a few bits of racking to put up in a friends shop and the bolts + nuts are all conveniently 17mm.

Ihave to say im also very impressed by the new tray sets Halfords are putting out now under their new-ish "advanced" branding. The bit set i bought earlier feels very nice, and the 1/4" set has worked very well over the past few months working in the house on my own and a few friends cars (mostly servicing and brakes). I spied a set of wobble extensions in mixed sizes for £20 with a trade card and couldn't pass them up;

a9sb9.jpg

Again perfect for the home box.

I just grabbed this Snappy torque wrench QD3R250 at local pawn for $130 out the door. It looks to be in great shape and has all paperwork w it. Looks to have been calibrated and new at 11/11/14

I DO see Uncle Sam’s Retail Outlet appears to have these right now at $150 - I didn’t go thru the cart to see what shipping charges, if any. Still I figured saving even $20 was better than nothing.

What says the GJ, is $130 on this tq wrench a decent deal, or no? Not gloating, legitimately asking.

I have an SK which is the same range as this but shorter. I really like the 24” length here and the whole thing just has a quality feel to it.

I wish my dealer had hard handle picks.. Those are awesome. Also I see they've made the switch to the black batteries. You'll love that ratchet, it's a beast.

omg that's sweet, where'd ya get it, and how much did it cost?

I picked it up at SEMA from Miller for 3 bills but cyber weld has it in sale right now shipped for $285. There is another model that for a mere $70 more the face shield flips up......I had a really hard time with that BS. Also when I tried that model out I hated it. With the face shield up it felt very heavy and was very awkward and unbalanced. Because this one changes to grinding mode with nothing more then the push of the button on the side of the helmet I see no need for the other lid, specially at that kind of increase in cost.

Sunday I got a nice welding project to break it in on, I can't wait.

New screw drivers

The Felo with striker heads are super strong, comfortable to use, and cost much less than the Wiha equivalents. The Wiha insulated stubby length is just what I've been looking for. I like the SK 1/4" driver that doubles as an extension to save weight and space in a portable kit. I've also been surprised how much I like using the Felo #1 with wooden handle. It has lots of features and weighs very little.

I wish my dealer had hard handle picks.. Those are awesome. Also I see they've made the switch to the black batteries. You'll love that ratchet, it's a beast.

Are those hard handle picks new or N.O.S.? I haven't seen those in quite a while.

The mini pick/screwdriver set was NOS. Will check the date code and see the year they were made.

Recieved two new to me ratchets yesterday. The 1/2" is a Bonney AA 707-H and the 1/4" is an SK 40975.

Since I moved tools out of the garage and into the enclosed trailer, I have to go to the other side of the garage to get wrenches. I decided to change that and used a Menard's rebate check to make a partial payment on these.

Bought these reversible gedore wrenches from amazon.de and had them shipped over for $185. I couldn't find them any cheaper than $400 here in the US.d8b114ca8ec2e550f67711858d2a1cec.jpg
