Anyone know if this ring up as the free tool when you buy the brushless hammer drill. It's below the price threshold.

The Milwaukee high torque might be a better value for a little more money. 1100 ft lbs of reverse torque

This is $100 vs $249 for the cheapest gen1 high torque impact with a battery and charger.. yes, the Milwaukee is ABSOLUTELY a better tool, but if you just wanna change tires - $100 is pretty unbeatable..

Question: Will the 18 volt lithium battery for this impact also fit the older, blue-colored Ryobi 18 V tools ? I have a set of older blue Ryobi non-lithium 18 V tools that are probably 10 years old, that look like this:

https://www.ebay.com/i/192217987368?chn=ps&dispctrl=1

Yes all ryobi tools are backwards compatible. The old charger will not charge the new batteries though. I believe the charger included is a dual chemistry meaning it will do both but read the manual to make sure.

Thanks for the info. I really should upgrade my 18 V set to newer stuff, but as a homeowner who uses it only occasionally it's good enough. Although that old blue 18 V ryoibi drill is a heavy, bulky dog of a tool. But the sawzall, circular saw, and palm sander are good.

I have a bunch of Ryobi. Only thing that is failed is a circular saw that I really abused.

My family uses to professionally everyday for hvac work

What's stupid (if you ask me) is that this display was all the way back in the bathroom fixture area. Not near the tools.. it should be at the front of the store.

Maybe they didn't want us to see it?
Got mine today!
From reading this thread, and @ the price, I couldn't pass it up.
Nice little tool bag with it too.
Thanks for posting!

I've been trying to find a mid-torque on eBay for months now... I think I might have to do this. I feel like Ryobi is like sub-HF-like tools. But for 15 times a year. Probably better bet than spending almost three times that for a Milwuakee midtorque set up with battery and charger...

My brother had a Ryobi one he had to return because it didn't do squat. This is the updated one, no?

I waited a long time to get my Milwaukee for $125 bare tool from HD. I needed it for more than changing tires.

Ryobi isnt sub HF. It’s not bad stuff at all

Correct me if I’m wrong but I think they’re owned by the same company tti? Mil rigid and ryobi?

Ryobi drills are OK for the price, recip saw is so-so, circular saw is a toy, the flashlight is better than nothing, vacuum is a toy, never tried the palm sander or chain saw.

I'm on my way to look at the impact. Hope my local HD has that deal.

Is that a new style 4ah battery? Doesn't look like what I am used to. I couldn't find the 10 my store has, and even though they had more employees than usual tonight, I didn't feel like asking.

just ran a lug nut on-to a rotor/stud.......
Didn't have a rim on the rotor/hub. assby.
didn't try with a breaker bar to judge how tight it was, but seemed to be cranking down on that lug nut.
had a short well impact (21MM) Socket
on the Ryobi impact gun, on center speed!!!!~!
Seems Real Nice,
ESP. for the price

How would this compare to a craftsman ? I was entertaining the crafstman only bc my other cordless tools are Craftsman, so would have same batteries.

The craftsman C3 impact is also made by TTI just like the ryobi. The 2 impacts are nearly identical. I don't think the craftsman has the speed selector that the ryobi has though.

Rapped the Mazda wheel on with the impact tonight, checked with short impact socket and 18" 1/2" drive breaker bar, that sucker was TIGHT!
I'm happy with it!

Good post OP. Picked one up just now.

Doesnt fit in with my RED tools but oh well.

Also, they were 'randomly' placed in the paint aisle. Not with all the other BF stuff up front or in trash bags.

I picked one up last night and charged it up right away so I could give it a "test drive" this afternoon on a single charge.
SO HERE IS MY REVIEW:
1)Dodge Charger SRT lug nuts torqued to 100#..... Could NOT "budge" them.
2)Ran twelve 3/8”x6” lag bolts into a tree..... NO problem with power to spare.
3)Remove 8 lug nuts from Kubota BX tractor..... NO problem battery starting to loose power.

Disappointed with the "fake" torque specs but at $99 I will keep it for work around the farm without being "tethered" to a air line. The tool seems well made and balanced so it is comfortable and easy to work with. It is too big to get into "tight spaces" but I have smaller pneumatic impact guns to do that job in the shop.
Basically this is a $99 tool and you get what you pay for but for the "DIY/Homeowner/Small Car Owner type of Guy" it is a must have tool to save time.
Professional/everyday mechanics should avoid this tool because you will be disappointed. :tantrum2:

I have the 300 ft.Lb. Craftsman impact and it has worked great for me. It is variable speed vs. the Ryobi that is a 3 fixed speeds.
The CM battery has an indicator gauge light to give you an idea of how much life is left in it. As you guys know the Li-ion battery just die with no warning. So this gives you an idea so you don't get trapped with out any warning.

This Ryobi seems like a great deal for the home user..... But I can't comment on the overall quality. I have never seen it in person. I can only say the CM has never failed me while using it on some tough nuts and bolts.

Thanks for this. Was debating it, but the #1 purpose of me getting a cordless impact would be to take off lug nuts. Will have to hold out for something a little torquier I guess.

It may be the battery. Even on a full charge there may be something a miss with it.

Well, i visited a local HD today and they showed two in stock on their handheld.. it shoed that it was in an aisle display like the op posted, so it must be how HD corporate wants it displayed. They couldn’t tell me what part of the store it was in. I walked the general store, and found none. I was afraid they might have had it covered like the black friday items in error..

So I visited a second HD... they showed zero in stock.

Crossing my fingers for black friday to see if something comes up on sale for an impact wrench.

Disappointing if it can’t remove a lug nut as posted above :(
