Outlaw for the win! :pimpflash

It is for a drill. You can find it on page 37 of the 1952 power tools catalog. See link below.

http://www.blackburntools.com/artic...ves/sears/pdfs/sears-craftsman-1952-power.pdf

I think page 40 of the '53 catalog is closer, but they are just illustrations:

Thanks outlaw and horse. I appreciate the feedback, I have everything cleaned up beautifully and already have some cans of hammertone sitting around. I have decided to remove the hardware, do a stripe and repaint and the screw and nut re-assemble.

The top box doesn't have a date stamp, just the advertising metal stamp? the box box has no stamp under the badge. Any ideas where to look or guess at ages? Also unlike Horse's lower box, mine has rounded corners on the back (so all 4 corners), does this help with pinning down a date of manufacture?

If you are going to screw the handles back on consider using stainless steel button head socket screws with the nuts on the inside. The stainless heads can be buffed up to look like chrome.

Picked up an old Beach B26 the other day for $40. Not the best condition, but good for the price imo. Looks to be rebranded by Mastercraft. Couldn't find a stamp in the back to get the year, but judging by the shape of the crest, I'd say 80s. This is my first Beach top chest, I've been wanting one for a while!

Here's a picture of it beside my current road box. The Beach will likely become my new road box!

Not that I have any room for them, but I had a couple of boxes follow me home today.
The Snap-On mid-box KRA-429F is a '92, so 25 years old now; hard to think of that as 'vintage' but...
Missing a drawer, but for $10, I wasn't going to leave it behind. :dunno:

The other box doesn't seem to have any branding on it anywhere. I think the gray is the original color. The interior is in good condition and the drawers slide really well. Again, at another $10, I can find something to put in it.

Any thoughts on who made the gray one?

Looks very much like a KR-53, but with the wrong handle and no rivet-holes for the emblem. Do the sizes match? Maybe it was "restored" at some point in its' life.

Very nice finds for $10 each! Wow!

Does this Kennedy tool box seem like a good deal at $200? It is packed to the brim with older USA made hand tools as well as a few machinist tools.

Finally, back from my month volunteering in the Gila. I picked up this little beauty this morning. Can anyone give me an idea when these were made? The PO was Pennsylvania Dutch he said. It was owned by his father before he moved to Austin in the late '80s and brought his dad down with him. Said he didn't know if his father ever had any S-K tools.

It's got a little bit of rust on the chrome pieces and elsewhere. Can someone recommend the best way to remove that rust while protecting the existing finish? It's really in great shape and I don't want to miss it up if I can help it.

Thanks!

Hiatt: i bet you were smiling or maybe laughing when you mentioned "is $200 a good price for these boxes and oh BTW they are full of old US made tools"?

yep i'd be lucky to find them empty up here for that much.

what brand of tools? CRAFTSMAN since you are in snowbird country for the old Boeing workers that i think they all had a SEARS credit card given to them for their bonuses?

nice find!!

Haha. I thought is was an OK deal. I'm not too familiar with Kennedy so I wasn't really sure what they go for. Turns out, the majority of the tools are actually German and many of them have never been used. Lots of brands I'm unfamiliar with too. There were quite a few craftsman, indestro and SK. I'll get some pictures up of the better stuff I found.

Here's some pictures of most of the "good stuff". The box cleaned up to almost brand new condition. The felt looks brand new after vacuuming. Lots of interesting German brands I've never heard of. The vise is really cool and doesn't look like a cheap knockoff so it may be German as well. Looks like it had a label at one time but it's long gone. A lot of stuff is brand new with the original price tags. Some of the German stuff says made in west Germany.

I had a buddy pick one of those Simonson boxes (Out of town...), about five years ago and he asked if he could give it to his new son in law for Xmas as he was drooling over it.. I let him.

I agree though; way over priced

I believe it is a Davenport. It says "-Spinut- Dav. Tool Co. Eldridge Iowa Pat. Pending".

It looks to be brand new never used.

Just picked up this Park with tools for $25 Saturday. Still needs cleaned up and the original paint a little rusty, but I couldn't pass it up for the money. There are a few on EBay, but none identical. Any body know the age? I don't recognize any of the tool names except for the Williams wrench. If anybody collects any of these, I don't so you pay the postage and I'll send them to you free.

I bought this early ('40s?) Kennedy cantilever box at a sale in Berkeley yesterday. The interior was really surprising. It doesn't look as if the trays were ever used.

Ledman, I have a similar box, looks to be the same label style, but without the slight peak. I'd guess 60's give or take. I don't thing the drawer pulls are original. mine and all the others I've seen are smaller.

Don, Wow, the interior of that box is incredible! Leather handle, so may even be thirties. Someone needs to get to the Kennedy museum and document the labels through the time eras...
