We finally figured out what to do with the front of the house.. couldn't decide what to do since the old house was built below grade (to the road), and to make the future driveway usable, it would have been like 10" over the height of the foundation on the old house, so we decided to fill in the cellar windows, plastic the front, and then pour a walkway at the same height as the future driveway. This fixes the issue of the house being below grade on that side, gives us a step into the front, and will also make it a seamless transition when we put the driveway in. We'll put down flashing under the vinyl siding when we have that done to keep the ran out. Oh, and should have garage doors and openers on Wednesday... Keeping my fingers crossed, been a bit of a fiasco so far regarding that

Ordered a 56" wide top & bottom rolling tool chest tonight! We weren't quite looking to buy a toolbox since we need to finish other stuff on the house, but it was a hell of a deal.. $1299 shipped from www.qualitytoolsforless.com , Will post pics of it when it arrives in 2-3 weeks


Oh and the electricians were here earlier today and they got some of the electrical wires pulled, and the can lights in upstairs. Will try and remember to get some pics tomorrow

Looks killer man! It must be something about garage doors that people can't get right...we are ordering our 4th different set tomorrow...1st set wrong size, 2nd set missed the truck for shippment, 3rd set wrong color, 4th set hopefully will be the charm...R value of 13, so with the HVAC it should stay toasty.

not sure about his door, but myself, I'm getting two Hampsire series doors from General Door Company, and I think they are r16 or r17.. wanted to make sure all the heat wouldnt escape through the doors! I cant tell you how many garages I see with uninsulated doors... must be nice to just throw money away

Took some pictures of the wiring upstairs today. Its not done yet, but they got the can lights up, and ran some wires around to some of the plugs. They still have to pull all the cat6 and rg6 wiring:

actually, that's my father.. he's 62 and into modded vw's too.. has a 2007 jetta 2.5l 5cyl that has a custom turbo on it.. as of right now, its the only 2.5l 5cyl turbo jetta in the world.

thats how we roll.

Nice, build I especially like the use of space and the design to fit the property. Not to mention seeing some nice VW's. Seeing the corrado in one of the posts brings back some great memories and I am also in CT. Like you I am also in the middle of a build.

Yes, mine is started and I have posted on some of the progress, but haven't really updated lately. Not much has occurred besides the electric, floor and the garage doors are in. Took delivery of my prized cabinets recently and now need to get it insulated so I can heat it.

I ordered it 12/12, then had them change the order 12/14 to include the 7 drawer side box. it shipped 12/18 from quebec, went to chicaco, and then it got hung up a bit over the holidays and stuff. It was in chicopee mass for a few days but the last transport company couldn't get out til today.. so, just under 3 weeks, and it says 2-3 weeks normally.

There must be something going on in the garage door bizz; I had two snafus on mine 18 months ago, and it wound up being 2 months late.

small update.. not really garage material, but its part of the addition. had a small porch added over the front of the house. going to tear off the peaked part on the connector and put a shorter (3ft) roof along that part as well

the middle posts look crooked in this pic, but they really are straight. just an optical illusion

nothing much going on inside, its going slow. just getting the wiring done a bit at a time, then we gotta get it inspected, then do the plumbing and get that inspected, then drywall. trying to just focus on getting the outside done first, then pick away at the inside as we have time and money lol
