interesting Craftsman ratchet

Although not that old (early '70's) I picked up this ratchet which I thought was interesting. I never saw a modern Craftsman ratchet with all this patent info on the handle. Usually all the patent # stuff was on really old tools. Was this the 1st model of this type of ratchet ?

That’s a relatively common ratchet, patent numbers and all. It’s not the first version of the ratchet. The first versions of that ratchet had no patent information on the handle. Early versions were stamped with “Patent Pending.” If you’re lucky, you might find a really early example with its original “new ratchet” advertisement sticker on the handle.
