Dewalt flexvolt

Dumb question, will the flexvolt and standard 20v batteries interchange tool wise. Kinda like the flexvolt angle grinder over the standard version. If I buy the kit, will the battery work with my impact and drill and vise versa?

Can't answer your question, but the Flexvolt 6" grinder is a nice grinder. Seen one at Home Depot the other day.

Also my local store KMS was advertising a 7" Makita 36 volt that uses 2 batteries. Couple of choices now for over 5" cordless grinders

If you mean will the flexvolt batts work with standard 20v tools, the answer is yes.

Visa but not versa. You can use the Flexvolt batteries on your existing 20Max tools. There is logic built into the battery packs that recognizes whether the tool is a 60v or 20v, and delivers power accordingly. A Flexvolt pack acts as a 6ah 20v pack, or a 2ah 60v pack.

The 20v packs can not be used on the Flexvolt tools. So if you get the Flexvolt grinder, you can use it's batteries on your drill and impact, but not the other way around.

Aren't there a few 20V tools that won't accept the Flexvolt batteries? I remember this being discussed in a review video on YouTube.

Pretty much all 20V tools can use the flexvolt batteries. The only exceptions are things like the small speakers/radios and the vacuums.

If you are considering getting the Flexvolt grinder, GET IT!! I have one and it is AWESOME! I rarely pick up my corded grinders when doing welding projects. It is so nice to not deal with a cord in your way. This grinder has balls too. The batteries have exceptional run time and charge pretty quick.

That Makita looks like it would be a beast but heavy.

I don't think you can run the flex volt batteries thru the adaptor for 18v tools.

My boss has the flex volt charger with four 60v batteries. The 120v out on that thing holds up surprisingly well. I ran a 120v angle grinder on it for about 1-1/2 hours & it never slowed down.

Those exceptions are probably due to the actual physical size of the battery packs, the Flexvolt packs are a bit bigger than the 20v packs.
