I wish that they had made it that easy to just bolt up.....its gonna end up being fairly involved. The front and inner bolts up perfectly...the issue is that this fender is taller and and not as long as the OEM 718 fender. So there is a gap between it and the door.

Maybe get the 991 door...maybe Frankenstein the old fender and new...not sure yet.

I'm all for getting creative and thinking outside the box but I'm not sure I'm really seeing the point of this swap. Maybe if the 911 front was a direct swap it'd be worth the hassle/$$$ but if you're having to hack it up to make it work then I'm not so sure. 718 looks good as is tbh. Either way, best of luck and thanks for sharing -- always enjoy seeing what you're up to next.

Kind of a weird blend. I own a garage that has certified mechanics and they do mostly repair / maintenance on more common vehicles. My business partner and I also do performance work for people and handle most of that at my home garage. Neither of us have certs in anything...just started taking things apart and trying to make them faster about 10 years ago and never quit lol.

Thanks man...appreciate it!

thanks for the interesting background info.

just one shop or a group/chain of them? How many techs do you have?

Involved in anything else car related?

Looking forward to the boosted Viper.

Very cool front-end conversion project. Which bumper cover did he get? Looks like you'll have to do some major surgery on that fender. I would buy another set of 718 fenders and Frankenstein it to fit.

Subconsciously, I think your buddy should embrace the mid-engine entirely because it's more superior in raw performance than its older bro.

Just one shop for now....number of techs depends on the day lol

I am actually in the final stages of producing my first completely custom auto part. Been working on a short shifter design for 2 years and hope to be selling them the first part of next year. Ill post some pics up once its all finished up.

Just an OEM 991 front. Agreed....he plans to pick up some used 718's to chop up.

Agreed! I actually loved the look of his car as it was.

Very cool - keep it non-GT look. Does the existing wheel-liners and under-body cover fit w/ the new setup?

I like this project.
Does the fender shape match the door? If so you could cut the fender and move the rear edge toward door by welding in the needed extension.
Or are the shapes different?

Whats up man?!

It doesn't and thats the problem....he may end up just switching to a 991 door. Still playing around with options. That would be a great solution if the lines where the same.

Bruce ever get his Z tuned?

Speaking of tuning there is a very good chance that I have a dyno early next year :)

Hope all is well!

Yes he got the Z tuned.
I think it made around 494 who before he ran out of fuel pump pressure.
He has since rewired the pump and believe to have solved that issue.
He also had to replace the alternator as that was found to be bad during the tuning session.

So the 991 door matches the Cayman Quarter shape?

That will be nice if you get a dyno. I'll will be a customer.

Glad hes done and found some issues...the dyno is good for that!

No the 991 door to the 991 fender unfortunately :(

Good to know....im still a little on the fence about spending this much cash on what is basically a toy lol. I think ill do enough tunes to break even but still....

Ill keep you posted if I end up getting one. My top pick right now is a Mustang MD150

Thanks for the update! It looks like your co-pilot is also a very effective anti-car-theft system!

LOL...That's what I was thinking, too. I bet he could leave the door unlocked and run in the gas station without anybody touching the car. Ha!

MH: i know you are lifting working out and maybe real heavy weights too, but there are other ways to get your protein. just saying i'd like to see you around when you are my age and older so you can still enjoy your fast cars.

your pictures of your dog and that stream and meadow sure look great. nice to see you can slow down and smell the roses a bit with the crowd you hang with.

cheers

He has the appearance of a good security system but would just run away lol. Its really odd for me because when we are out in public I notice that people are apprehensive of him and he is just terrified of the world. Takes him a long time to warm up to people.

I am sure you carry a liability insurance for customers car both at the shop as well as at the house, correct?

Nice work though, keep you busy and out of trouble LOL

100% yes. I err on the side of way to much insurance with everything that I do. Would rather be safe than sorry and never want to put anyone else in a bad spot because I didn't do the right thing. Also, the extra cost per month to be "over insured" isn't bad at all. Well worth the peace of mind.

drivesitfar,

Thanks for your concern! I have been into lifting for 22 years and read obsessively on all things related to the field and gotten to work with some of the best guys in the industry. Right now I am prepping for a power lifting meet and have my diet fairly locked in. The steaks are all grass fed / grass finished / Free range so a lot of the issues that typically comes up from meat consumption isn't a concern here....also only eating one time per day further helps mitigate any potential issues. I am equally obsessive about my health and get full blood work / check ups done regularly and everything is spot on.

Glad you liked the pics. The area that mom and dad live in is just beautiful! I am going to make a point to get down there more often.

When the shop table was originally put together there was no bottom shelf and I had always wanted one. I finally got around to knocking that project out this week.

Very pleased with how this turned out and now I can keep the top area clean for projects that I am working on and store stuff below

272.jpg

He loves his Christmas sweater.....first thing on in the AM last thing off before bed

273.jpg

He also loves taking all the bed space.... I get out of the shower most evenings to find this scenario.

I like the shelf. Simple things like that make a work space so much nicer and it will last better than anything you could have bought pre made.

Thanks! Your 100% right. After having built this one I will probably never get a store bought shelf again. This thing is indestructible and cost less than most stuff that I could have bought.

Now I just keep looking for more stuff to build lol

Picked up the new open barbell velocity device v3 as a Christmas present to myself :) For any other lifters on here this has proved to be a very useful tool for me.

Having to rig up ways to fit plates on the bar....downside of a commercial gym lol

A couple of weeks ago I put some springs on a friends CTSV and he wasn't happy with the stance of the fronts. It seems to be a common complaint so I chopped 5 inches off the springs for him. Looks great now! We are gonna tune / upgrade the super charger soon.

MH: i've got clients and friends that lift a lot and i've never seen that set up on a bar or that machine. care to share how much weight you have on your bar and what brand of plates? also have you tried or thought of maybe trying to add bands from the bottom of your cage (some are built with hooks or you might be able to weld a few on) or heavy heavy chains.

nice looking steak and even though i eat a lot less red meat now i'd probably love eating that piece.

dog is still very happy and always enjoy his pics.

any more cool car pics just post them up PLEASE!! LAMBO??

Tex: until MH shows up or has time to explain a few guys on GJ made a thread about this type of cooking and here's a link for you and others to check out to get you started and send you down that RABBIT HOLE:
