This is a Wilton C3 I just finished for a customer. They wanted gold so they got gold. They love it, not my 1st choice.
The jaws are interesting. 8" custom jaws but tapped for an 6" Wilton. My customers LOVE these as they allow for more uses when bending metal and wire. I very nice tight vise.
Aupts on eBay was a huge resource as always. Thank you!

Very nice job on restoration and honestly I like the Gold color too, it is pretty cool!
But I am not a big fan of jaws inserts sticking out an inch on either side! There is obviously no support at these points. If there is too much pressure at these points the outcome might not be nice (but then again that is not your problem)

I just picked up one of these, I can't see what's holding the spindle in place and don't really want to strip it of it's original paint to try and work it out. Can you offer some insight please?

I've had this Wilton done for some time now. I bought it with the intention of making it my number one vise but I found a Craftsman 5198 so the Wilton sat for awhile. I bought it for a good price but it was locked up tight. Many rounds of penetrant, hammer, heat and after a year of pounding on it here and there and it broke free.
Since I had the 5198 I decided to restore the Wilton and give it to my dad. He's always been into scrap metals so that was the inspiration for the vice.
The Wilton didn't have an end cap so I made one out of brass and hammered copper. The brass ring was from an old fire extinguisher and the copper was a pipe that I hammered out. I did the letters in silver and used brass screws for the collar. This was my first resto using hammered Verde Green and I can totally see why everyone likes that color. Finally, it came with good jaws but I machined some new ones from copper.
My dad used his vise all the time as a scrapper and it was this POS Chinese made job. I guess it did the job but he should have a much better time with the Wilton.

They use a small soft pin. This Stanley 744 uses a 3/32 pin. Kind of sloppy, I'll look at tightening up the backlash some how.
I picked up another vise this week. This one is a Parker 106 (5" jaw). I paid $70.

Here we go again with the vise craze combined with possibly dishonesty and greed!
Check this out, this magnificent Reed 204 R (4") with sloppily welded / brazed job on the slide with busted arm can be yours for a mere $225.00.
There is no mentioned of any repairs or issues just a comment "Check out the photos to gage the condition" but then again photos are too small (I wonder why?)

Drives,
I have a Parker 206 that I am currently restoring. It is the swivel base version of the 106 that Rileysan posted about. And the jaw measures 5" in width on the 206 as well. What surprised me about this vise is the weight. The 206 weighs over 100 lbs! There aren't very many vises I have run across with 5" jaws that weigh as much as this one does. I bought it from a guy in Buffalo who pulled it out of somebody's trash. I'm glad that he did. It's going to look fantastic when it's done.

Gman007--- those red wiltons have been on Etsy for over a year. At first they had no description which they do now. I talked to them once and asked them if they need any end caps and at the time they never mentioned about emptying a factory. I wonder if they've sold any of them since the last time i talked with them?
Riley: are you sure the Parker 106 has a 5 inch wide jaw? i'm just curious cause i thought Parker had the same sort of numbering system that other vise companies did in that era where the last # represented the jaw width?
also i just saw the picture of the big Reed on the dolly and wondered why you hauled it away on it's main screw? now i see why you were not happy when he accepted your offer cause i didn't look close at the picture before.
just let me know when you have time to drive up and best of luck with the MOVE.
Nice score Hiatt. There are a couple like it on FB marketplace & Craigslist in Socal and the sellers want $400+.Picked up this Yost 33C for $80. The man I bought it from said that it came off an old military wrecker. It weighs about 100 pounds and has a 5 inch jaw width.
