There is NO price matching policy. I was a supervisor for a while and there is NOTHING written about price matchings from previous weeks or to other HD stores. It's really up to the cashier or person he/she reports to but there is absolutely no policy. If you get it awesome, but if you don't, don't sweat it and just return it late at night before the store is going to close at 9 or 10pm, and show up when the store opens at 6am to rebuy it.

Can someone explain what home depots price matching policy is for xmas items? If I buy a xmas item at home depot, and the price drops within a week or two, do they refund the difference?

I believe you have 30 days. Just be very polite, they can make quite a fuss for you if you get too demanding. (i.e. bring in actual item vs just do it from the receipt)...

I'm not one to burn the candle from both ends, & a bit dutch with gas, so if it is unopened (most of the time it still is), I will bring it back & say I got the wrong one. Go look around, and come back up & say I guess that was the right one and bring it up to checkout.

Originally went to HD today to look at those Husky 46" Mobile Workbenches...

Was walking around appliance area to use a computer and saw this in front of the keyboard... Hmmm...

attachment.php

Started looking up in the rafters, found the 48" first... Then found the 36"... Went back to double-check in PCA, both dropped out of the system...

I don't know if it is just that one particular style or if there are more of that brand. YMMV... I wasn't planning on getting these but I have a friend that could use them to help fix their grandparents old house that they had to gut and are trying to re-do on a shoestring budget (literally counting change just to buy lumber). Figured worst they could say was "no"...

Got an associate to help get them down, he looked up the first on his handheld and saw it was a penny, I asked if he was still going to let me have it and he said, "Yes, I was actually looking for it earlier and it would have gone in the dumpster otherwise."

attachment.php

I was also over in the chemicals / fertilizer area and saw some cockroach gel for like $1 something, but again I was walking by one of those mobile carts that prints out tags and saw on top a 1-cent tag for them so I went back and grabbed the last two off the shelf. There was another penny item in his stack but I was trying to be discrete when he had his back turned I didn't want to start going through them and tick him off... hehe...

Finally, they had some Diablo reciprocating 25-pack of blades super cheap over by the pro desk / ladder area... If only I needed some but the Dewalt pack I bought years ago will probably last me a lifetime as rarely as I use mine. I did get a long pruning blade for trimming branches, I'll use that one for sure.

Great score on your penny deals. Thanks for the heads up on the Diablo reciprocating saw blades. I picked up 4 of the 25 packs (got 4 different ones), will last me a while.

Steel 9" 8-10 tpi 25/$17.50
Demo 12" 6-12 tpi 25/$21.50
Demo 9" 8-14 tpi 25/$17.50
Demo 6" 6-12 tpi 25/$12.30

Oh, I found 4 of the Werner MT-13 ladders, got 'em for a penny each.

I totally forgot about those ladders (again)... I might swing by HD today, need to make a note... Though I think my store has switched out to all Gorilla Ladders brand for those multi-position ones quite a while ago.

GRK T-40 bits are penny...

Husky Truck boxes look to be a good price but only for small trucks...

They also had some TracRac truck racks behind those (you might barely be able to see in the picture) discounted similar amount.

Some sort of organic herbicide, interesting list of ingredients.

A small kettle grill that had a built-in fire starter, not bad for the price...

Finally some nice Glacier Bay chrome bath faucets at .03

My local HD has the assorted Reese hitch parts down to that one special number we search for. I picked up some assorted parts today.

They have been in the clearance area for 3 months.

This. The 5/8" hitch pins are down to $1.33 in my store. I grabbed their last three.

I'm sorry, I don't have the receipt or product in front of me ATM so I can't provide any numbers or other identifiers.

I know most would scoff at a deal on hitch pins (such a small fish) while others would scream wait 'til they're a penny............but I tow a lot and can never have too many. Plus when you really NEED one it kills me to pay full retail of $6-10. It's a freaking 5/8" round rod with a hole drilled in one end.

Yeah, was there ever an MT-13? They used to promo the hell out of the MT-22's.

I also agree it seems they've gone exclusively Gorilla, which is both a blessing and a curse - the quality (surprisingly) seems much higher than Werner at a lower price point. But they're all heavy as hell, too.

Oh, also my store has begun mark downs on the Michelin wipers, they're all down to $6.20 now but could be a great deal if they fall to half of that or less.

I think right now Napa is still doing their Proformer conventional blades at $5 ea so that's a better deal.

I buy inexpensive wipers in bulk and replace often. I've never seen a $40 wiper last longer than a $4 wiper, that's just me.

Oh yeah, I totally forgot about the wiper blades, they had them in a shopping cart in the middle of the lumber exit area with a sign for the clearance price. I forgot to look up what size I needed... lol...

I'm not 100% sure which model Werner they were discounting, I looked for any at my store and all I could find were regular fiberglass / aluminum. All the multi-position ones are the Gorilla brand now.

I got a Gorilla one at an estate sale last year cheap, it's a shorter one (don't recall length) but does 99% of the things I need around the house and easier than hauling the fiberglass 6' or 8' I have. When I need a longer extension-ladder style than my gorilla will do I just borrow my neighbor's down the street.

All the Werner MT series were clearanced out. I bought 4 of the MT-13 for a penny each, and one of the MT-17 for $30. When I bought the MT-17 for $30 it was the last one in the OKC metro area and I wasn't going to wait another week since it would have probably sold and that was the one I was really looking for.

Wasn't interested in the MT-22 or MT-26 but I think the lowest I saw them was $30-$40. Saw the MT-17 at penny prices at multiple locations but none were in stock.

Not a huge deal, but something I can contribute...

Snagged up these 8" C-Clamps tonight at my local HD. Normally $20, on sale for $4.33 each. I snagged up the last 2 they had.

Then a 5 pack of grip gloves for $2.52 normally $9.89

Those bosch laser measures are constantly getting revised and the old models get clearanced out pretty quick. If you need / want one they are worth watching at both HD & Lowes...

Couple small/cheap items I found on .03 clearance last night. Unsurprisingly for this time of year, look in the BBQ isle. Do other people here not post these types of things because they want them to hit a penny?

Grill grate lifter
Great reviews (also on Amazon)- would make a great, cheap gift
$3.53

Diablo 5-pack 9" pruning blades
$3.80

Scripto wind resistant lighter
$1.03

Kingsford alder chips
$1.53

Weber mesquite chunks
$2.33

As an aside, I found a couple old items that I thought might be a penny. They wouldn't scan ("see attendant"). When the self-checkout person came over to help, she scanned them and it looked like she selected the last clearance price. Is this what happens when a penny item falls out of the system?

It Depends whose working the front. I had the FT person can something one time and he said they can’t sell it. So I went up front and paid that special price.

Another time the self checkout was closed and I had to go through a cashier. She said all penny items were free then. Another time before I knew better I had the cashier check the special price and said they couldn’t sell it. But I said I was here and was interested in buying that item. So they gave it to me for free.

YMMV at every store. The higher volume store near me seems to have more of those deals. Maybe the help isn’t that much help?

The diablo pack is still at .06 at my store. There were a few items in the grill area (I think I posted one grill) but nothing spectacular. I'm sure later in the month or early January a lot will penny out... I'll be honest, I can't even find a single weber / nexgrill gas grill at my HD, they cleared them out to make room for all the Christmas ****...

In my experience when an item falls out of the system it just rings up as a penny. Sometimes it has to be scanned twice...

I've never had an issue with an employee at my store not selling me a penny item, both in self-checkout area and in the lumber side.

The other day I was using a computer, and there was a cart kind of in the way. One of the associates was like, "Here, let me get this out of your way for you." lol... My store might not have the best deals, but they have the nicest associates.

I really want that Milwaukee hole saw set they had in front for like $40... But I honestly can't think of a time I will ever need to use it... I have forstner bits of all those sizes & more, and I highly doubt I will ever need to drill into metal. If any are still around when they go on clearance then I'll probably grab one.

Dewalt 15 gal compressor D55168.... item has two different skus in the PCA, looks to be the same situation as the Milwaukee tool box tops. Found a store with one marked with a yellow clearance tag and was able to get the $98 price.

Even though the first sku # says not sold in stores on the website? This looks like an awesome deal.

Note that Dewalt (in their infinite wisdom), released two compressors with the SAME model number. The difference is in the PSI, one supports up to 200psi and the other 225psi. Just FYI.

So, like most HD finds, I have to be lucky to find one in store and marked down in the system?

Generally it takes about a year for an item to drop out of the register system. This is so they will still be available for no receipt refunds. The scanning twice thing is very common, but it does nothing different than the first scan. The system pulls price based on SKU. If they scan or enter a UPC, then there must be an entry which ties the UPC to a SKU. Occasionally this entry is missed, but this happens when an item is first brought to a store, not when it is being clearanced.

I noticed these in the PCA. Local store showed 2 of each. I practically tore the place apart hunting for them but could not find them :(

I did find 4 compressors, but all had the full price SKU

I never trust inventory numbers... I've found things that were 0, and I couldn't find one thing that had 6...

I've always been curious what could be hiding in the back "employee only" corner of stuff... I figure some is holds / pickup, some is return to vendors, some has to be penny items they want to take home... There's a lot of stuff back there.

where is this section typically located? in the "receiving" area? near the back of lumber?

No, the stores I've always been to they are usually back-left corner of the store, by the back sliding glass doors that go to the outside area.

Back of lumber area I've seen plenty of things with people's name on them being held for pickup or delivery. There is also a big glass door there which I've seen them load / unload some stuff...
