I don't know how it got put on sideways. Sorry guys. I don't know if you can tell, but I would like to know the approximate age of this floor drill. Hopefully I will be bringing this one home.

I downloaded the image to my hard drive, rotated it, and saved it. Then, uploaded it.

Looks like a pretty early DP220 model, probably from the early to middle 30's. Does it have a serial# tag?

I have not purchased it yet, but plan on it soon. I am waiting to here a price. The guys father passed away about a month ago and is cleaning his auto shop out. I will post model number when I get it.

It does not have a tag on it. It has a 1/2 horsepower Delta motor on it. It does say DP 220 on the side. The front cone has DELTA spelled out in the casting. I cannot find any other serial numbers for it at the moment. I just picked it up today.

This quote is from the link I posted above.

Delta began assigning serial numbers in 1941. If your machine lacks a serial number plate or holes to mount one then it is from early 1941 or before.

Are you a bit of a Delta expert?
I have a Delta jig saw that I know my grandfather used in the Depression to make puzzles that my dad and his brother would go door to door selling.
It has no model number on it.
The only, well worn, decal just says "Jig Saw"
Is there any way I can find a good home for it?
Or get parts?
It doesn't use pinned blades and the vise hat holds the blade has been over tighten and broken.
I will watch for a PM
Thanks

Check the underside of the table, My Delta DP220 had a casting date of November 1944.

Mine looked very similar to yours, but the belt cover pieces were both there, and they were smooth, rather than having the perimeter relief bands like yours. Also, the Delta badge on the frontpiece was a cloisonne' appearing badge riveted on.

That appears to be a Dp220 pre-serial number. Round Base final year I believe was 1937. In 1938 Delta went to the standard rectangular base. I am going to say the last year is 1937 for this drill press. They are nice, but the next generation made a few small improvements in design. But this is still a very cool drill press.
