Home depot has the 5 piece Husky SAE set on sale for 19.99 from 39.99. The metrics are still 39.

Anyone have the HF set, how are they? I bought the Husky SAE and Metric, but if the HF are ok, I may take the metric back to Home depot.

Many people have commented that the HF set is decent. I don’t really understand a 5 piece wrench set though. I carry more than that in my truck just in case. In fact I have more than 5 wrenches in my lady’s vehicle.

Sears had, and may still have, a holiday special on both SAE and metric 7 piece Gearwrench sets for $29.99 each, even less with points/coupons.

I got 14, both SAE and metric, for $54.99 with a $5 off coupon around Black Friday.

If you search for coupons it shouldn't be hard to find a $5 or $10 off that can be used.

I have the HF set. Let's just say they work. Don't know how the head profile compares to Husky in terms of bulk. My favorite flex heads are Tekton because they are 6 point.

I'm so tired of these ****** sets that don't even make it to 3/4". If you're using fractional you need 3/4" for 1/2" bolts. Extremely common, at least in the world I live in.

Exactly. By the time you fill out the set with wrenches you need you didn’t save a dime. They are teaser sets.

That is probably out of your budget range but will cover most of your metric needs.

I looked at the sets in hd today. No issues with appeal or finish. They are not on sale in Mexico however and impressively priced.

It had the 15mm my set was missing (now sold) so as a filler set maybe, back then.

Why were all the sale priced tools SAE when metric is what we need more today? Very odd game.

I've used the HF ratcheting wrenches, Husky (on my boat mainly for the drain plug), Gear Wrench, and Carlyle. Granted I'm not using them everyday, but so far I've liked them all. Of all of these, the Gear Wrenches are my only Flex-Heads and I've used those quite a lot with no issues. I do wish they were 6-point though. But for a flex-head option in a jam they've been great. My go-to ratcheting wrenches are the Carlyle's because they are 6-points. I got them simply because I watched and read quite a few good reviews on them. Mine are not flex-heads but if I remember correctly they are available in the 6-point option as well. As far as HF tools go, I've really never had a problem with their Pittsburg Pro lineup of hand tools. I just make sure to use the right drive sizes so I'm not abusing anything. They do skip sizes though which I find annoying. So that's another reason I went to Carlyle...no size skips!

It's been a while since I was involved in the merchandising trade but if I recall the basic premise of the game was to slowly raise prices on the things that sold best and discount what didn't sell to clear out the inventory.
