They don't have enough. The preceding model sold at twice the price with no $50 voucher. This "promotion" outstripped their available supply as soon as it hit websites, possibly even before that as it seems dealers put in large orders anticipating the demand that Festool HQ didn't.

The Festool Roadshow stopped in my town last week. I talked to one of the reps there. He said that these sold out way faster than anyone at Festool thought they would. He said that they figured the promotion would run through the end of the year, at least.

As an aside, if the roadshow is ever in your area, definitely make a point to stop. Really cool stuff!

Get us some pics when it arrives! I missed out on this deal waffling on it after posting. I think that's still Ok. This sander is probably not exactly what I need but it is still cool.

My new ship date is around January 19th. I think I placed the order the day after the offer first appeared here.

Festool proprietary design so only festool paper lines up with their own sanders

That killed it for me. Plus I think this more of a finish sander for fine wood working. I'm a butcher

Yea 5/64" orbit, which was perfect because I bought a big Bosch the week before and needed something more refined but this isn't good if it's your only sander

Now that a few months have gone by, what are everyone's thoughts on this Sander?

I've read people making a big deal out of the dust collection holes and always wondered about this. Apparently, those people haven't yet discovered Mirka Abranet. Best dust collection sand paper you can imagine.

I'm not going to use my coupon. First person with at least 100 posts to respond to this thread can have it. Only thing I ask is that you post of pic of what you buy.

PM you NotEnough....

I am still kicking myself for not jumping on this deal. I have the Bosch version of the Rotex 150 and love it but that new Festool would be amazing for fine detail and edge work.

PM's you.

If the first guy doesn't work out, I'll be happy to take you up on it.

Also will post a photo and review on it once received. Have several Bosch sanders and the bigger 150/5 Festool that I can compare it to. Need a smaller fine stroke finish sander.

Thanks

There really aren't any deals - that is on of the things that turned me off of the Festool brand. They are basically 'price protected'. All the dealers are required to sell Festool at the MSRP. Festools usually never got on sale - the only way you can ever get a discount is to buy a combination like a vacuum with another tool. (10%)

Since you're in California - look at Lee Valley. I read recently they are shipping Festool out of a warehouse in Reno, so you would get it fairly quick. Or you can never go wrong with Amazon (but you would pay sales tax with them)

http://www.leevalley.com/us/Festool/Index.aspx

Another thing that irked me about Festool - their yearly price increase for no reason other than they can do it... So instead of having a 'sale', some vendors advertise the price increase to trick you into thinking your saving money if you buy right now...

Cool to hear the voucher swapping. Nice to hear they didn't have to be used in a shorter period of time. I'm going to just keep dreaming of Festools magically eating up my Milwaukee tools.

I haven't been able to take advantage of it yet and still waiting to hear back from Tool-Nut. Hopefully it will work, fingers crossed.
