I called Ace hardware to exchange my 1/2 ratchet, and they said they couldn't because it had a different switch on it, I thought a lifetime warrantied tool, was a exchange, whether it had a different switch, its still the same exact tool, so what of the switch was different!!

I hosted their exchange policy. I would give them a tool like new just broke and they would give me a tool that was abused and about ready to break. Usually I could've just farted on the tool replacement and it would've been broke more then the one I gave them.

If it was a standard Craftsman 1/2" drive raised panel ratchet, they did you a favor. They're too coarse and short to be of any real use as a ratchet and their ergonomics are the biggest crime perpetrated against the male hand since wedding bands.

Take this opportunity to buy yourself a nice 1/2" drive ratchet and never look back. You deserve it. Thank me later.

Is there an online translator available that would help me understand this post? :dunno:

Sure. I took in a ratchet that needed the switch for tighten to loosen. The guy gave me a rebuilt ratchet with the internals so worn. That when you started to tighten or loosen any nut or bolt it skipped teeth. Not only that but the one he gave me was also bent from someone either heating it up or smackingbit that hard. Which was probably put into a vise and hit numerous times with a hammer.

You need a translator and spell/grammar corrector to read about 80% of what is posted on the internet today...
The really sad part is, there is a lot of truth in that statement. In some respects this is a reflection on what our society has become, a nation where many of the citizens have difficulty writing a coherent sentence/paragraph in order to convey what happened.

I find it hard to believe they’d give out a rebuilt ratchet with stripped gears and a bent handle. Either someone made a big mistake, or they saw you coming...

Has anyone of you clowns tried to help this person yet? This is a very identifiable problem that many have had with diminishing responsibilities of manufacturers and vendors of tools.

Garage Journal readers have a collective responsibility as members to help others rather than to call them trolls and ridicule their English syntax or intellect. As a member I'm sickened by this. I have no Ace here so I can't help this reader with details. Somebody please show some dignity and help this guy and try to save some face for this website.

...the difference between knowledge and wisdom. Knowledge is knowing that tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad.

Getting a bent, stripped ratchet in exchange from Sears? Is this really a

Calling everyone clowns, but then on next paragraph asking members to not ridicule others. Yeah... that is not hypocrisy... absolutely not...

Well obviously you never been to our Sears that no longer exist. When our Sears was commission it was a great Sears. Then they took that from them and lost about 5 senior guys (people there longer then 5 years). From that point on they would only give rebuilt tools for replacements. Many times they were tools that shouldn't have ever been put back in as replacements. I would get a lot of 3/8 ratchet replacements where they would put new guts in the ratchet but the body on the inside was so worn that new inner parts didn't make the ratchet any better.
