So realizing that parking a car in my garage now is bringing in a ton of melting snow even when I clean them off the best I can. Was looking at products and pads to collect the water.

I am thinking about tiling it all next summer and wondering about making a tile height small moat around the parking area. Maybe an inch wide just something to keep the water from running off all over.

What I was thinking was to use a couple aluminum tile edges spaced an inch apart and just leaving a small strip of slab around the car. Hopefully not big enough to screw up rolling things but enough to keep water contained. Maybe drill a hole somewhere through the slab in that channel but I have radiant floors so hesitant to drill.

thoughts?

IMHO they are going to fill with **** and junk and become a year round cleaning nightmare. I would use a containment mat such as https://www.garageflooringllc.com/auto-containment-mat/ or Auto Care Products 50 Mil product, use it when you need it and put it away when you don't.

Another idea might be to use a thinner tile for the "moat" or parking area. Even a 1/8in or 1/16 recess over say 6" will stop a lot of water.

Ah good idea. Right we aren't talking about a ton of water.

I will try a mat first before I tile.
