Picked up a large collection of German and french tools. Im most interested in the box itself. The sides "fall down" when the lever on the side is released. Both sides open and and the drawers can be slide out either way. Some of the tools date back to the 40's - 50's and some are current. I made a killing at $120 for everything you see and more. The company is still around but the boxes look nothing like this. Any info on the box would be appreciated.

Congrats on the robbery.

Excellent score! That is a great deal. Similar Werkstattwagen go for 100-180 Euro alone on German Ebay. I couldn't find any Matador ones to compare but I'd say that would be an absolute you **** over here without even factoring in the tools!

Any way to demonstrate the sides falling down?

I shouldnt let it slam down but its hard holding the cam and pulling the lever. It needs a good cleaning, tlc and lube. Crappy video its getting dark out.

Lol, this is above a you ****, this is solid **** you territory, lol...
I couldnt pull the money out fast enough. I told him I want whatever you got just pile it on.

The ratchet is great. Ive always wanted one but never could justify it now that I dont trun wrenches any more professionally.

Im really loving this cart but I dont know if I should keep it...

Heres an impact that was below, and a few more pictures. So far looking up a couple wrenches on ebay I found some that sell for 40 each so sell 3 wrenches and all profit from there and I get to keep as much as I want.

Great score! I got the better part of a retiring german mechanics set at one point too, and whats funny is its very mismatched also. It seems they just bought one thing at a time from whatever manufacturer was in stock. All hazet, stahlwille, matador and dowidat wrenches, but in a full set with no skips. Thanks for sharing

He was a mechanic in Germany, moved here and he got tired of it. From what I can tell this was probably a nice set up at one point but he modified a lot of wrenches for specific jobs (grinding and cutting expensive wrenches) So he probably did a lot of the same jobs. My guess at least.

You ****!

Im going to organize over the next few days and will post a nice complete shot soon.

Are some of the special wrenches used on certain cars?

There are some specific to Mercedes (special oil drain plug wrench) and some that came with Mercedes / BMW tool roll kit. Most of them are more "vintage" and not current, kind of collector pieces.

I have one of these wrenches in there

I had a feeling one of the wrenches was Mercedes specific, was it that u shaped one?
That is extremely interesting, those are for OLD Mercedes, from the 50's and 60's, makes my 86 feel young.

True relics.

Good deal! Matador are (well were) good tools. I've got a few around that I think date from the 70's. Perhaps not quite the same league as Stahlwile or Hazet, but not far off, and certainly tough!

I've never seen a Matador box. Personally, I'd keep it. Even if you only use it for specialist tools or somesuch, I doubt you would ever find another!

As to the tools, great deal. Those Facom pullers are worth the money alone, and I can see wrenches by Facom, Hazet and a host of other decent makes! Pretty much what you would expect from a German mechanic working, I'd guess, from late 70's to early 90's!

Amazing find!! Good old german industrial grade tools.

Those Dowidat spanners are superb in fit and quality. Dowidat No.111 and No.2 ones have to be my favourite spanners among Stahlwille Open Box 13's and Gedore 1B.
