Makes my homemade job look beat. I have $1 in this with a can of spray paint. It is made from reclaimed cedar decking, back of an old dresser and scrap 2x4.

Finally labeled my harbor freight bins with what was in them. Worth it to take a $15 label maker and spend an hour printing and applying them. Also labeled my file cabinets.

HINT: press print and cut the label but don't apply. Print the next label and while it print apply the previous label. Saves time.

Not really on the wall, but IN the wall!

Purchased a bunch of Durham parts drawers/cabinet from Zoro: http://www.zoro.com/g/Sliding Drawer Parts Cabinets/00054215/None

The drawers are entirely removable so you can take it to the car/project area with you. The width of the cabinet was 15.5", which fit perfectly between two studs. The entire was also Made in USA to boot.

I am using it to store all of my assorted car fasteners, parts, light bulbs, fuses, etc. Much more organized than those small flip lid organizers which I already have a few of.

SN0klvE.jpg

Just making my way through this thread, and realizing I have a bunch of great old vintage slide storage boxes that would be perfect for this use! Not sure why I never thought of it. They would make fantastic nut/bolt storage, and have that wonderful old gray hammer-finish paint on them.

I need to get some pics up of my newly built 20x35 garage...actually hoping to finally get a ton of stuff shifted around this weekend to make room for my boat to come indoors. Lots of ideas from this site will be going into it as I get it fitted out. Pretty much a blank canvas, but it's packed to the gills after the move in.

They weren't any good so I powder coated them and now they are wall hangers!!!

I prefer to type in as many as it will let me at once and then print, saves all the "extra" label material between them when you cut one at a time, then i just trim them close and have smaller physical labels due to the lack of "excess" material on the ends. Or maybe I'm just cheap (frugal) when ti comes to labels vs cost of label tape.

Nice! I hope your labels stick better on those black bins than mine did. Vegas heat had them peeling a couple of years later.

Built an organizer for my hole saws and other misc bits behind and above the drill press. This will really help keep things together and findable. 27cba7f2ba2ae685ab379faa14202e0c.jpg37e2e8f262d55f21bcb6289e4be7a8ef.jpga84f0670e8d412ce410016f460a64369.jpg98fe1b9da87c9b6b8f215df13183192b.jpg

My Dymo label maker was leaving too much blank space before and after the text, wasting label tape. I started typing out 4-5 labels at a time with just a space or two in between and printing them all out and cutting between them. Saved a lot of wasted space.

Great idea. I don't have as many as you, but they were still a PITA to organize. I managed to get most of them in a drawer of my HF toolbox, but a few of the bigger ones wouldn't fit, and I just hung them on hooks on the pegboard.

Your idea is much cleaner, and easier to see what one has. Nice job!

Thanks, I think it will work better than what I had. Still need to come up with better storage for my fornester bits, drill indexes and some other random items. Any forward work on organization improves the functionality and productivity of a workshop.

I love your storage cabinets and have been intending to do that for some time. Maybe now I’ll be inspired.

I also use the Brother P-Touch label maker but I do it a bit differently. I print as many as I can together (leaving three blank spaces between) and then cut them with scissors. This saves label material.

If you don't know... i'm a big label person... well I'm a big guy... and i label a lot of things.

Anyway... I'm listening to everyone talk about how they save label waste... honestly ... kinda surprised I never thought about that. I pretty much waste an INCH every label I make.

I will play around with the methods mentioned in this thread.

Sorry for the non thread topic post but ... damn... if you put it on the wall... put a label on it.

My wife loves labelling things. She once put a label on me when I hadn't moved from the couch for a few hours. I think she was trying to make a point, but I'm not sure what it was...:D

I bought a TIG welder recently and decided to practice by making a rack with 1-1/2" 14 guage square tubing I had laying around. It now stores my plywood and steel. Better than having the steel stacked under my truck.

The rack sections bear on the slab but is held upright by the studs. I'll post pics soon.

Odds are... you don't label things you are gonna toss in the trash... so ... sounds like a good thing.

I put several labels on my wife once... you know... to label "parts"... it went well. :rocker::rocker:

Love the HF rack! Had a question.. any sagging of the bins, or do you wish you had a solid shelf under them?

Thanks!

Last year I cut up an old CD rack to use to store smaller pairs of pliers upright in the drawer (I have many). I made two, and when I found a proper pliers rack on sale at princess auto, I upgraded.

Kept both smaller racks but only used one. The other just kept floating around the garage because as much as I refuse to admit it, I might be a little bit of a packrat like my dear ol' Dad. Well today I put it to use holding my $9 clearance insulated screwdrivers. 816a5d22163c6da74b53ff007ae2b022.jpgfe8846d0d17bc10db40ae10566f4d645.jpg

Haha! I saw that same exact CD rack at an estate sale yesterday. I was thinking of buying it and using to hold pliers but they seemed a little narrow so I passed...

It was actually a rounded W (think of a sine wave) before I cut it up. so it held CDs on both sides. It probably would have been pretty cool in the 90s lol. It works really well for mini pliers sets.

The one I saw I think was a big C shape. But it could have been cut up in a similar fashion. Yeah back in the day you had to proudly display all your CD cases, right next to the boxes of 3.5" & 5.25" floppies!

Agree with Larry... nice setup and fabrication. I'm not tall enough to use those effectively... they seem HIGH on the wall.
