Well, another awesome year of buys and bargains is soon coming to a close!

When Jan. 1st rolls around, the 2018 Garage Sale Thread will kick off.

All members are encouraged to cast a vote and help decide who the next host will be.

I decided to open this up to the max number of choices, being 10 per poll.

The top 10 members ranked by post count (excluding prior GS thread hosts) are as follows:

Private Lugnutz
EOC_Jason
bluebolt
BlueBomber
RagTopTA
Swingpress
Rileysan
topop101
bmwrd0
Smokeshow69

All of these gents have contributed much to the 2017 thread, as have many others, but this list is maxed out. Hopefully the winner is willing to accept the spot, if not it will be offered to the runner up.

Please vote for your Garage Sale Thread candidate. All votes are confidential.
This poll will close at 2pm on 12/20/17

Thank you all for this fun opportunity as host!

Thanks 3baygarage, you did a great job this year . Look forward to meeting up with you soon.
With the lineup in the polls, it’s a hard choice, all deserving of hosting the 2018 thread.

FYI I did not vote for myself... lol... I don't find myself worthy... I know a lot of my posts had to be "didn't find squat this weekend!"... ha!

The 2017 thread had a lot of good finds and a lot of historical awesomeness... Hoping 2018 is even better!

To field questions...in a timely manner. :lol_hitti

Good thing Jake had me covered on that one. Well said.

CB- thanks. Yeah we still have to meet up for sure.

Jason- I think you had a good number of scores. Wouldn't mind seeing any of the guys host because everyone contributing is what makes the thread great.
It can be a little tricky to keep up at times, like say, when you move and you're not prepared and nearly lose your sanity in the process :D .

I just voted, unfortunately, at the moment, I don't get as much time as I would like to hunt for these treasures. If all goes well, I'll be retired in a few years, which means more shop time and more time to hunt for treasures.

Even as such, I really enjoy seeing the stuff you folks find in the wild. Even though I don't post a lot on this thread, I continue to enjoy following what goes on in your hunts.

Good luck in 2018

What a great field of candidates. I let greed decide, Hopefully Candidate_X will now be so busy hosting, and there will be more epic swag left for the rest of us to find.

I truly enjoy the Garage Sale thread--I try to keep up with everyone's finds and have learned an amazing amount. I'm certainly not campaiging for the position--my new garage project is limiting weekend time for deal hunting...not to mention the "fact" that I'm retired from picking :) Any of the top posters would make superb hosts!

Let me get this straight in my head...

421 members have seen this post (check).
12 members have replied so far. (check).
39 members have voted so far. (check).
382 member have not taken the two seconds it takes to vote. (check).
Does that mean we have more non-members then members?
Does that mean voter apathy?

What gives???

Voter turnout is always down in a non-Presidential election year.

Well, I know I've viewed this thread maybe 5 times or more... So figure everyone that voted has done the same, give or take... That's about 200 views right there... *shrug*

Listen up Garage journal members today and today only we are giving away a FREE gift, yes I said FREE gift for anyone voting in todays contest. I have for you a very nice boutique bottle, soda/paint lid opener and only made from the finest chevy & ford crushed cars from the junkyards.

The operators are standing by just call 1-800 I just voted and be sure and have your charge card numbers ready for only $19.95 we will send you a nice bottle opener, but wait if you act now we will throw in a second one for free; if you want it the very next day just tack on an additional $12.95, You can order any color you want as long as it is silver.

Now if you think snap on is expensive, well these beauties are free , yes you heard that right free. just like snap on is leaving off the USA stamp on all there tools, no worries, as these beauties are hand stamped with MADE IN CHINA, rest assured they are the real deal.

So vote today and get your free bottle opener/paint lid opener for voting in this poll.:rocker:

Quantities are limited due to are service driver 3baygarage having to make runs to his local home depot and lowes in order to grab them from the paint department; paint stir sticks are optional.

We thank you for your vote.:)

What about a yes/ no poll for Swingpress to simply retain that avatar?

I love his avatar, I wish there was a high-res pic of it somewhere.

EDIT... Largest pic I could find...

Yes indeed a very nice avatar, perhaps that nice young lady can also make some runs to her local Home Depot & Lowes for a quick dash to the paint dept.

Or better yet to Harbor freight for some free flashlights to add , well at an additional cost of $8.95, tax, shipping, and handling fees...

Come on be sure and VOTE Dec. is half way done.

 Woody, I think that's called trying to buy the vote. Were you in the poll I think it might work.

For as long as I'm here on GJ, my avatar will FOREVER remain! Unless, such time as I find a better one that is voted on by the community as a whole! Lol [emoji13]

ETA: or Mrs. Swingpress decides to pose on my workbench in her WW bikini! <-- Google at your own risk...

Update due to the high volume calls last night for the free bottle/soda/ can opener, are driver 3baygarage has emptied out all his home depot and lowes shops so lets give everyone a big hand good job voting.

Over 700 hits and 57 votes still needs some work...

REMEMBER YOUR COMMUNITY LETS MAKE IT THE BEST WE CAN.:rocker::rocker::rocker:

Fantastic response!

May I cast a vote for putting it in the Vintage area where it (arguably) belongs? I hardly ever visit over here in the regular tool section and I'm sure I'm missing a LOT of cool OLD TOOL finds!

I agree cause i don't see a lot of NEW TOOLS bought at garage sales, craigslist or auctions and while some might not be VINTAGE most certainly are so i agree with Twertsy!!

Private Lugnutz really out ahead with 32% of the vote!

Reminder, the poll closes this afternoon!

Twertsy and Drives, as great as my love is for vintage tools, and despite the amount of attention we give them in the Garage Sale Thread, the Vintage section just wouldn't be right. It's not supposed to just be about old tools. There's all sorts of newer tools, supplies, vehicles, and other random things people find. That would really be limiting it, or cause too much confusion.

One of the main points of the GS thread is used items, which may happen to include new old stock merchandise (sourced second hand), just not new purchases from a retail store or site. Finds certainly don't have to be old or vintage though. Even if we get really really excited for old stuff. :)

For anybody who doesn't like to click on the General Tool Discussion, I would definitely subscribe to the thread then. The GS thread will certainly be near the top of your subscribed threads list every day.

Hear, hear, 3bay. Although I too enjoy seeing the old and oddball discoveries, I also want to hear about the $40 Eastwood powdercoating set or the pile of nearly new Craftsman wrenches for $5. Vintage finds are tasty, but You **** deals are what we all secretly hope to post or comment on and they can be of any age.

Well guys, with 32% of the vote, Private Lugnutz is indeed the people's choice!

Congratulations Lugz!

Bomber and Jason were very close to one another at second and third respectively, but Lugz by a landslide. You gave it good run guys. I can't help but wonder which way the count would have went if limited to the top 5 posters as previous years.

Thanks everybody for voting! All 68 of you who care about the Garage Sale Thread! :spit:

Lugz, I hope this gives you adequate time to prepare menta..uh Oops I mean prepare a speech!

There's still plenty of time for a re-vote!

Just kidding. I accept. Ready to take the wheel when you say so. I just hope I don't run this thing off the tracks!

One question though: Do I get to re-instate banned members? Ya know, like the president commuting a sentence? :lol_hitti

Congratz Lugz!
Why am I interpreting this like, "Yes! I lost! Congrats, sucker!"
