I was just able to give floor scrapers out to family and construction friends for Christmas and they were SUPER HAPPY about them! thanks ItsFriday! Keep up the good work man!

edit- WTF- Just noticed it says Banned by ItsFriday's name. He seemed like a good guy who contributes more than ALMOST anyone else on here. Was that a mistake or did he really do something ban-worthy? Just curious because I follow his posts the most and have gotten the best deals because of him.

There was a post today regarding Lowe's policy & a few responses, in the spot where yours is now, and I have a feeling that was what did it. I get how it would have mis-interpreted, and it didn't help with his sarcastic joke in there, but would be nice if the user received a warning first. At least with people that are a benefit to the community, rather than only themselves.

I wish him well, and hopefully is happy with Saturdays now.

Wow. I saw his post earlier, and was just checking in to see the responses I knew would come. It’s a shame he got himself banned, since he contributed so much to the forum, but it’s not even close to the first time he’s been way out of bounds. It’s a pretty safe bet he’d been warned before, given some of the things he posted. Shame.

What did he say that was so bad he got banned for it? I don't even see how one could get banned on here, short of threatening another member with violence or scamming people? I always though highly of him but may have missed something.

He was talking about a Lowe's policy. I know he was saying it jest, but some would categorize it as possible retail fraud if serious about it. So that would fall under the scamming people. He might work the system good, but don't don't believe he would do what he eluded to. I'd rather stay participating in the forums, so that's all I'm going to say.

Now let's focus on having each other some $$

Yes, let's get back to deals guys... If you want to talk about other stuff please do it in PM... :)

I'm still watching the poly carts, camp stove, and right-angle needle nose in my area to drop...

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Brickseek sells your searches to their "premium members" (mostly resellers). Using Brickseek is the best way to ensure the deal you are searching for is sold to a local reseller. You'd be much better off calling the store and asking them to check the computer for stock. By calling, you only alert one potential person to a hot deal, whereas by using Brickseek you are alerting many people who's only goal is to find local clearance deals. Brickseek *****!

I use some other 3rd party searches / self-written code too... I live in a small-ish town, I'm sure there are local re-sellers but I'm not too worried for such low-dollar items.

(Higher dollar stuff I definitely do NOT use brick-seek for.)

I've totally given up on getting deals on Lowes website for local pickup. The last five purchases have all been canceled on me even when there good a mount of them in stock (10+). Some without even a phone call. One time I called and they had the item in there hands when but when driving there they called me saying whoops sorry your order has been cancelled, then hung up.

I think there's some scamming going on in the stores.

Would employees find out about the smoking blow out prices and hold onto them? and then phone call that your order has been cancelled because they couldn't find any in stock?

Why not forget about placing an online / pickup order and do it yourself? I never place online orders. If it's low-stock then I don't trust the employees to actually find it. If it's a smoking deal then I'd rather pick it up myself just in case an employee likes the deal too much to give it to me.

Yep. Happens all the time. I went first thing in the morning to pick up a toolbox deal once. The young girl working receiving at the next register over was acting fidgety and nervous, and when the kid helping me couldn't find my order, she whispered "its the same one from this morning ". Another 25 min. goes by, and the kid brings up the wrong item. I asked her "did someone else buy one today? I hope it wasn't mine, since I got the ready for pickup notice". She says (and I'm not joking here) "My boyfriend came and got one, but its home now, so too late". !!!! I asked her if there was another one (as I've been waiting about 40 min. now, and am getting pissed) and she mumbles that she's not sure. I asked how they could sell mine, and she said "oh, it's easy- it's not paid for till you pick it up, so it still shows in inventory ".
I asked for her name, and said loudly that id be calling corporate pretty soon. My box soon showed up with a different unhappy looking guy (guess he didn't get his!).

Another time I grabbed some extension cords that were a great deal from the isle myself after placing an online order, and found it was cancelled when i went to pay at order pickup. It showed 11 online, and they were all there. As I was getting mine, an employee ran into the isle and asked "where did you get those-those are a great deal!". Cancelled for out of stock...yeah, right. I didn't even wait that time for the ready to pickup email, as I'd had so many cancellations from that store before.

Nooooo, not those good honest teenagers at Lowes.... *rolleyes*....

I've only done store pickup for non-clearance items or things slightly reduced that I needed. The 75%+ off items I will go find myself, often they won't have the latest sticker price on the shelf (or the employee would have more than likely stashed it away for later).

Technically Lowe's & HD employees aren't allowed to buy anything till after 24hrs from when it gets marked down or they can get in big trouble... How many are honest and follow that I couldn't tell you...

Even when those rules are enforced, it doesn't stop them from telling their friends to come get it.

I feel it's something like that or something else. I have four Lowes stores 15-30 mins from me. I have remodeled over 20 houses with HD and Lowes materials over the years. I know all about trying to find items in stores showing low quantities on line, having to hunt for them, searching the pallet racks high up in different aisles, getting several employees & fork lift to hunt for it...etc.
If it shows only 1-2 in stock then your lucky if you end up walking out of the store with that item but doable. If it says three or more then you chances are fairly good. If it says 8 or more, then it's a solid chance you can get a couple of them.

I generally have a very good track record of finding low qty items in the stores but zero when it comes to getting the blow out tools in my hands when stated they're in stock. The stories, excuses & attitude the employees give me about the blow out tool no longer in stock is a pretty different to when I'm trying to buy/find a normal item with only 1 or 2 pieces in stock.

Maybe the store just takes them off the racks if the price is showing too low?

While I agree that so,etc,es great deals are taken by employees, especially when they spot them doing ign price changes, with low quantities it is most often "shrink", meaning a bad count due to either cashier screw ups or items being lost or stolen. This is especially true if it has been a while since the stores last inventory.

My comments as someone who has retail experience. :)

I thought I was pretty savvy with Lowes pricing. This is a new one. I found a storage cabinet, which is virtually unavailable everywhere. It's only available for truck shipping in a very limited area ( about a 30 mile radius ) for 30.00 normally 200.00. When I go outside of that radius the price jumps to 200.00 everywhere. I'm not posting the item, because it will not benefit anyone. If you really need to know, you can PM me.

Last night I was in the store wasting time. I saw lots of tool boxes on clearance. One almost half off.

875251 Kobalt gunmetal colored 3000 series 41" lower cabinet was $649 listed in store at $349 and is $299 online
596381 Lenox 52" 9 drawer cart with wood top was $449 now $399 (not totally sure on model number it didnt have a store tag just a printed sheet of paper)
875250 Kobalt white 41" 3000 series lower cabinet was $599 now $350
844440 Kobalt red 41" 2000 series lower cabinet was $319 now $249
844439 Kobalt red 41" 2000 series upper was $299 now $199

and the new style 3000 series with the larger storage compartments
875247 45" upper was $569 now $449 (online shows $399)
875248 45" lower was 649 now $549 (online shows $499)

your mileage may vary

True, and many employees see tools & appliances as more valuable / resellable than various building materials...

I agree that there are some Lowes employees that may be reselling tools and appliances, but most are just people that don't get paid a lot and are tool junkies like you and me. Being in the right place at the right time is key. Appliances are just to expensive and bulky to resale. All stores are different and attitudes are different. I was a dept. mang. in tools and saw a lot of great deals go by, I would be lying if I said that I didn't let my guys know when great deals in tools were coming down. But I never let anyone abuse the system. I guess my point is pick your store, get to know the employees, don't treat them like sh@#$ and they will take care of you.

More than once I've found a closeout deal that was in the covered bin above the tools. It wasn't on display. To their credit they kept looking until they found it. I figured an employee has put it back.

Sometimes the deal is so good people, we call them parasites, will come in and buy all that are on the shelf. Take em and resell, we may have some behind the doors but these people know when everything gets marked down, almost to the hour. If our top stock gets pushed behind something we have to go looking. As far as employees hiding stock, we have "special " places. Sometimes we have to wait until payday:dunno:
