They're here!

Great delivery service from R&L so far, three boxes had something wrong with the cardboard and the tops were loose and dangling off the side. The boxes aren't really bad but the instructions said to mark and take pictures of everything so I did. I'll see if anything is really wrong once I get the boxes open but I need to clear out the walls before I start setting them up.

R&L called me to confirm delivery for tomorrow. They said curb-side delivery is all they are responsible for. Did you work something out with the driver or haul them into your garage yourself?

NewAge pays for delivery to the curb. It's best to rent an appliance dolly to get the cabinets into your garage. If you have a beer fridge in the garage already, the driver may be coerced into putting them in your garage. If you have beer and pizza, I'll come to help you out.

<iframe src="https://player.vimeo.com/video/201928916" width="640" height="360" frameborder="0" webkitallowfullscreen mozallowfullscreen allowfullscreen></iframe>

There's a lot of packing material and it would be best to identify any and all damaged cabinets before contacting NewAge. If you wait, because you're not ready to install the cabinets, say a month or so, you'd have to wonder if the shipping company is responsible for the damage or the customer.

NewAge packs wall and base cabinets inside the tall lockers. The boxes are labeled as to what they contain. So you may see something like LWWT, that means one locker, 2 wall cabinets and 1 tool cabinet. S stands for split base cabinet, B for 2 door base cabinet.

One of my customers called at 9pm to let me know he didn't get his full order. He was pissed, I guess he thought he'd get a voice mail box. It took awhile for him to calm down enough to listen to the "hey dude there's more cabinets inside the locker cabinet".

Anyway it's all good. Nice to see Home Depot taking a loss on an obvious pricing error. They lost $600 bucks per sale.

That's the first I have heard of anyone getting their order cancelled. Had they processed payment before they cancelled your order? I got shipping notification before they processed payment. They processed payment a day or two later

Guy backed up the driveway with a liftgate, brought them down with a pallet and wheel them inside. I've got an 8' tall door and it probably had 3-4" of clearance, guy said most he leaves on the driveway because it won't clear the garage door. Didn't sound like it was common to drop them in the street which is also what I thought they meant by curbside.

Got everything opened and unwrapped. I'm pretty happy with everything so far. The couple of places that had a ripped box all ended up being on the backs of the cabinets and only one shallow dent on the back of one. I need to go over them all in the light tomorrow to make sure I didn't miss anything. Lessons learned from doing it all myself:

1: It seemed like a good idea to put it in the garage to work on it but I'm second guessing that. You can't slide the tops off, even with a 12' ceiling. Then again it was probably better than doing this outside in the current weather.
2: If you do put it in your garage, make sure that boxes are facing forward with 'Front' on the boxes.
3: Also don't put them up against a wall or in a corner or against each other if you get a choice.
4: If someone is available, have them hold the shelves when you pull the base cabinets out or at least one set will fall. In the ones with the drawer base cabinets both times the plastic hooked one of the shelves.

My delivery date was forecasted for January 18th, I received shipping confirmation late last week and the delivery company called me on Tuesday afternoon about scheduling delivery. I decided to have them delivered Friday (tomorrow) so I can take the day off and have a long weekend. Hoping they get delivered unscathed. I am north of Chicago and Moran trucking is the delivery company.

The garage is not “ready” for them to go up and the below zero temps outside are not very motivating. I haven’t installed my ceiling heater out there yet. I am shooting to at least unbox everything this weekend.

I will update with results.

I got everything unboxed and had a few problems, probably the worst being a shelf with a bent edge and one of the drawers having a large scratch on the front of it. I called NewAge and they told me to send an e-mail instead with pictures, I'm still waiting on follow up from that. The only large dent was on the back of a cabinet so I'm not worried about it. I cleared the walls where I want to put them tonight, I'm hoping to get them over there this weekend. Good luck with your deliveries!

Snowing here now and 50% chance of more tomorrow and be a balmy 15 degrees. Haha. Hoping I get a cool delivery driver and we can get them in the garage on the pallets.

Hope they can wrap yours up tomorrow.

I have read numerous places that they are good to deal with when it comes to damaged product. Best of luck!

I called back today and they reviewed my e-mail with me on the phone and I've got a replacement drawer and shelf on it's way. They at first wanted to ship an entire replacement drawer unit - maybe I should have heard them out instead of asking just for the drawer, I don't know if they would have wanted the original shipped back or not.

I'm also curious if anyone else has black sports in the tall cabinet door finishes. I can't clean it up with anything and I can't catch a fingernail on it so I think it's in the finish itself. They said they would check with one of their specialists to see if they had any suggestions.

NewAge cabinets are made in China and they normally don't stock parts. NewAge does stock extra shelves as accessories.

I had a customer who purchased his cabinets close to a year ago and had a non-working strut on the upper Performance wall cabinet. NewAge replace the entire cabinet rather than just the strut. They have cabinets but would have to get the matching strut from the manufacturer in China.

NewAge also doesn't take damaged cabinets back, they usually ask the customer to dispose of the damaged units as the customer sees fit.

NewAge, just like it's distributors, would rather have happy customers, than people complaining about freight damaged products.

Happy New Year

we got a fresh inch or so on the ground today along with temps in the low single digits. roads are crappy. I'm kind of just waiting around for the driver to call.... with the conditions I expect them right away at the estimated time, or "sometime" after the delivery window

They are here. It is a monumental task to unpack, open and go through them. They are really heavy. Going to have to call in some back up. I'm really happy with the color.

A couple little nit picky issues I've seen in the two I have unboxed, but don't think there is any major notable damage. 20c2d7082cdd6d9f25eff36dea8a5f26.jpg

Mine got delivered yesterday. I haven’t had a chance to open them up. Driver showed up a few hours late from the given “window” and the tall cabinets were not on a regular pallet. Just on the skids they are placed on from the factory. This created a problem as the pallet jack that they sent the driver with didn’t fit in the skid. Had to pull each one off individually balancing it on one side of the pallet jack. Driver had no clue what he was doing so I had to take the reigns and basically unload the stuff and direct him how to help. Not sure if I will get out there today. Weather reports are -20 with the windchill.

On another note Costco has a deal on a 14 piece set in Performance 2.0 series ( 24 gauge, and smaller cabinets) for only $1699 with lights. This is one of the best prices I have seen on this set in the several months I have been searching. Which is just over 35% off of MSRP and about $400 cheaper than NewAges current price. They are currently backordered, however they are allowing backorders and they are expected to ship at the end of the month.

So I have mine all unpacked... One drawer with a notable scratch, one small ding in a door and some paint/finish issues on one cabinet. Nothing too major. Overall pretty happy.

Only thing I'm kicking myself about is not ordering 2 or 3 sets at this price. I could easily use at least one more full set. I guess I should be happy I even got this one ... Don't get greedy???

I plan on starting the paint tomorrow and mounting them up within a week or so.

There isn't a lot of profit on these cabinets
...
You should purchase where you get the best price. Just make sure you post pictures once your garage is completed. Garage Journal is my best advertising.

Thanks
John
Nothing really to add to this but I always really like it when I find this level of honesty in the sales of any product. If I ever need this kind of cabinet you'll be hearing from me.

Great deal! For those that didn't get a pice of this, Costco has sets at very good prices. And they back it up better than anyone I have seen.

I'm sorry to post on this thread so often. But I'd like to make a point that the price Home Depot offered was a mistake. The price on the add was $600 below cost. Please don't think I'll just wait till that deal comes up again.

NewAge wants it's distributors to follow the suggested monthly ad program. I can't post a sale price on sets that are not on sale that month. If you ask for a quote, I'll send you a price that's 13% over cost. That's 3% to cover my credit card processing service and 10% to cover the rest of my cost and my profit.

NewAge does all the warehousing and shipping of their cabinets. No matter who you buy from the process is the same.

My website is ShopStorageCabinets.com
I'll match any advertised price offered online. Even Costco.

New update for me, I got one cabinet over where it goes and the garage slope is way to much to level them all out. On the first one alone I used half the adjustment. So now I'm going to wall mount them and figure out french cleats.

I think wall mounting looks cleaner, and probably better getting them up off the floor. Though it is more work. I planned to wall mount mine. I have 8" block in my garage so I have solid inch to set the backs on. Should help the install for me

I called about my set of cabinets and they said all is well but it can take 12 days for New Age to acknowledge the order and get it shipped. Said they were in stock so I should be fine. I hope so.

I got my replacement parts UPS but haven't opened them yet. Way too cold outside to want to go out.
