Here are some recent purchases, a mix of new and pawn shop finds. The gearwrenches were on sale at menards for $49 and are the first I have ever owned. I finally broke down and bought some because it is a full set with no missing sizes and the price was right. The felos were new and are also my first, I wasn't sure about them at first but they have quickly grown on me! The craftsman wrenches are the first gimmick tool I have bought, I don't have any spline drive tools and figured I might need them some day. The ratchets are from the pawn shop, 3 macs and 2 snap ons (one not pictured, flex head bent handle), all 5 were $100. These are just a small sampling of the tools I have bought in the past month, I have been taking about $200/week and buying tools. I don't get to see the tool trucks too often any more so I have had to get my tool fix elsewhere! I plan to buy some felo torx drivers and some more gearwrenches and then save up for more tool storage.

Nice. I've recently( as in the last month bought)
26piece Craftsman inch combo wrench set
2pack of channellocks
24piece craftsman screwdrivers+ 2 angle screwdrivers
A set of 3/8" extencions, all the usual adapters, and all 3 drive size swivels.

I've spent most of my money on tools fro the last ~2 months. Figure might as well get them now when i have money, rather than pay a shop to fix my truck when i'm in college in a cuple years. And if you have tools, you can make money fixing stuff.

I'm enrolled in my local CC. I've been burning up the Snap-On student pricing. We're allowed to buy $7500 worth of tools under that program, and in the first 5 months I've used up about $2000 of it.

I'm at the same point with my Matco program as well.

I like the Snap On Tools better, but Matco has a better website. Once you set up your account with them as a student, Everything on their website is available for you to order at about 50% off.

Snap On Student Website has limited items and can be difficult to locate what you want because there is no search button on it.

Check out the torque wrench I got off the Snap On Student Website. Cost me 206.08 instead of the 368 List Price!

Once you learn to navigate the site, it's very simple.

Matco's is so easy to operate a caveman could do it.

I've found myself buying a good mix of both and have been very pleased with every item I've purchased.

I purchased a Matco box over a Snap-on. The Matco was 2 inches larger or more all the way around, has a single 55 inch wide X 22 deep drawer (Snap-On's had half width drawers) and was $300 cheaper.

One of the other students purchased the Snap-On I was considering. I checked it out and while it was a nice box, we both agreed mine was superior. I'm not saying ALL are like this, but in this price range, the Matco was the better value.

so the snap on discount is still not 50%?

It varies. Some items are 35%, most are 40ish, while some are up to 66%

Toolboxes are heavily discounted.
