I don't know about the biggest, but I have a large one. Quincy 390, the pump weighs about 650 lbs. 15hp 3ph motor, two 250 gallon tanks linked. I got it because it was cheap, I have the space for it, the power to run it, and I have a machine shop so I use air a lot. I built an 8'x10' shed to house it all next to the shop.

A buddy of mine has a 3 phase compressor that has 100 c.f.m. It came from Tinker air force base. It cycles off even while your sandblasting. It is crazy. Not sure of the brand.

Can we add up the total CFM of all the compressors?

I've got a 3HP 60-gallon that is my daily.

5HP 80 gallon Curtis E57 2-stage. Runs but is not currently connected to anything.

5HP 80 gallon Quincy 325 waiting for me to do a single-phase conversion.

7HP 80 gallon BRA (snapon) that I just gave to my mechanic in partial exchange for some work.

And I have a 7.5HP and 4HP single-phase motors sitting here for compressors as well.

Yes, I have ACAD (air compressor accumulation disorder)!

Have a T-30 253 on a 120 gallon tank with a 650 gallon aux tank for the garage. Need to decide if it’s going to get a single phase motor or a phase converter for power. I hate waiting on equipment to catch up when I’m blasting.

it's not your 120g tank the issue...it's the pump that doesn'T put out enough CFM at the pressure you want.

I have a small 25g with a 1945(yes the year) something like 4cfm at 90psi pump. when I need more air, I hook up my small 5g yet 4cfm pump to it.

I doubt I win anything with 8cfm lol

Max: I know...the 253 produces around 27 SCFM@175+ PSIG on 7.5 hp. Hang a 10 hp and it goes over 30 SCFM@ 175. I normally run between 40 and 80 PSIG at the cabinet. The Vacu-Blast cabinet I just got, requires about 60 SCFM@ 80 PSIG for certain types of work.

"At home" might not be the right question. If your sand blasting company is in your back yard then you probably need a big compressor but it's effectively a work unit. I'm interested in who had what for hobby reasons. If I had the garage space I would have a low end 80 gal, "5 hp" compressor because I've got the parts, not because I have the need. Anyway, if your hobby is say car restoration where you run DA sanders, a blast cabinet or paint guns I can see buying a 5hp compressor for a bit over $1k. For many home hobbyist even a 10cfm 60gal is a lot. What hobbies might require more?

I have a 30 gallon at home. It gets the job done for the most part. I bring home a 185 from work if I need anything bigger.

Don't ask.
My neighbor used to park a diesel compressor behind my shop. If I recall it was over 100 CFM @ 100 PSI.
He used it for jack hammers and running piping/conduit under ground. It had no problem keeping up when sand blasting.

reminds me of the time I was picking up my little 347 stroker from the engine builder and they were prepping a 1000 ci billet engine for a drag customer.... gulp :)

Wow 15HP & 500 Gallons beats me by a mile....I've got a 7.5HP / 27SCFM / 175psi - triple - 100 gallon tank that is normally overkill but there are a few tasks that need a lot more to keep up ... open media blasting big stuff like frames .... winterizing the the lawn sprinkler system ....

I don't use my compressor professionally. At work, we have a 30 gallon compressor used mostly for blowing out things.

At home, I have an 80 gallon 7.5 HP compressor. I'll use my DA sanders mostly for woodworking, but it's still nice to know I can run a DA non-stop, and I believe that the DA is my largest air consumer.
