Is that one hollow for hooking a hose up to it?

No.

The bristles are very good for cleaning out smaller parts and NF bolts. I usually have to clean about 200 bolts a day, so it's good for that. I wouldn't mind finding the OEM for the brush though:)

Let me know how you like those...

I bought these a while back and I was really disapointed in them. :(

I don't think they're that great, but they'll see light use. They do have the warranty and I got a discount. I wanted the Toptul, but I couldn't afford to wait months as I've already waited months for them. Since they're a donation to my son's school, I didn't want to get the Knipex, which is what I might've done for myself:)

Astro Pneumatic 4505

and

Actron CP5011

Matco used to sell the same set (in blue) for around $45-50,it's no longer listed in their online catalog but the two leftt-most blue tools sell for $22.50 EACH

The Astro and Actron are the same exact tools,I bought the Matco set several years ago and recently picked up the Astro and Actron versions for less than $20 a set.

Also got a Tray, Parts, Drawer Insert.

It doesn't have the same configuration as any online. It's a mix of sizes. Perfect for odd-size taps, punches, stamps, replacement parts for torque wrenches, and other things.

I was surprised by how light it was. The material is durable but flexible.

Fits into the top left shallow drawer of the Classic 78 box. Makes finding little things a lot easier.

What I hope that this thread has shown is that there are a number of occasions when the product isn't that much more than the OEM. Obviously that isn't the case with everything here, especially when it's branded Snap-On:shocking:

Master Rethreading Kit, SAE and Metric, RTD-48, listed in the Christmas Flyer, and picked up off the truck during the weekend. (OEM is Kastar, if previous reports here are accurate).

interesting, this thread is 8 months old now, still getting hit, kinda of a beat up subject though, JMO, we all know they do it and try to mask it from us by placing the truck logos on the boxes or tool. we can just be thankful that majority of these items are actually lisle, otc and other AMERICAN brand tools(key word is MAJORITY)

I just ordered this set from Sears rebranded as Craftsman. $68 with tax and free shipping. Kastar is the OEM as you mentioned.

I'm not trying to beat up SO at all. I'm not trying to "unmask" SO. Just report on purchases I've been happy with (or not happy with) :) I've liked what I've bought. In a lot of cases, the pricing hasn't been too off what other things are. I did pay a little under $25 more for the rethreading kit, but a) it was easier for me to see the truck than go to Sears, and b) if something breaks, it'll be easier for me to get it from the truck than go to sears. c) it's nice to give a friend business when you can.

If I'm correct Snap-on makes their pliers (like those above) in Milwaukee. They are not rebranded.

Thanks. They've been great pliers. I also have an additional pair of needle nose I got on sale, slightly different design. I like the handles too. A great set of general purpose pliers.

Your post got me thinking, not necessarily about this particular item, but: I've had a little experience in OEM manufacturing and purchasing and I wonder if there are some rebranded SO items that are built to a different spec than the "original" ? Maybe not in the case of the Kastar/SO set here... But it sort of amuses me that everyone thinks a similar Armstrong and a Matco item are necessarily the same because both are made by the same OEM or at least owned by the same OEM.

I love Snap-on pliers the same way Merkava loves their ratchets. Well, maybe not entirely the same way :wtf:

The construction of their pliers is beyond reproach in my book and like you said, the handles are super nice.

Blue Point Penlight (ECFB200BL), High Intensity, 3 watt LED, Blue anodized aluminum for $45.00

55799.JPG

I bought two of these, and the one started shitting the bed about 3 months ago (bought it in May 2009), and is now not worth using. Rubber cap came off end, which is okay, but to make matters worse, there's so much play inside that the connection isn't very good. It sometimes doesn't work, it sometimes gives off a dim light, it occasionally gives off the bright, focused light that was the reason I bought it. I don't think it's the bulb.

These were a big seller on the truck in my area. I'll have to ask my dealer, but mean time, I've e-mailed SO twice over the past two weeks about the warranty on this one. It was $45 (I wonder who the OEM is, anyone know?), so it wasn't cheap.

Maybe I should look into another brand of flashlight. Now to read through the threads for a good one.....

These have a lifetime warranty (at least on my truck...) Just ask your driver to replace it. By the way, I like mine:)

I also bought that same exact set at Sears. It really ticked me off when I saw the exact same set at Harbor freight.

The headband just broke on my Blue point 551 welding helmet(currently sold as SO 551). When I called SO customer service I was told that it is not warrantied, and they don't carry the headbands but it was a Jackson helmet, and even gave me the Jackson part number. Turns out that my local welding supply has the same exact helmet on the shelf for less then half the SO price, along with all of the replacement parts in stock.

That's the pisser about some of the stuff. I can see paying a reasonable premium for SO/BP stuff, but when you don't get the support, what's the point? I don't know all the economics of the relationship btwn truck and corporate (mediated, no doubt by the distributor), but it seems to me that if the welding helmet breaks, you should be able to send it to SO to at least have them look at it and replace it if it wasn't "abused".

As I've said before, my driver will often seek out, in bulk, the OEM and be able to offer the "same thing" for less.

Different model than the current Snappy one I pictured. I do have that Klein though, in my home tool box. The PWCS9 has a couple crimpers at the fulcrum and the handles are nice if you're doing a lot of tedious work. Whether it's worth the $35 or so I paid for it, is another matter. I think it was though....

SO corporate just e-mailed me back with the name of the OEM or distributor (don't remember off-hand but will report back) and stated that they've got a 1 year warranty.

I'll visit the friendly truck man, but in the meantime, contact the OEM.

PS. Just got the housing replaced on the flashlight by my friendly neighborhood Snappy driver. :rocker:

2 Pairs of Snap-On socks for $5 each.

and I placed an order for this Socket Driver Tray(YA38HTD) for $12.95.
It's got the best design that I could find for a simple set of hex and torx.

Those socks are bad-***. I laughed when i saw them first time, SNAP ON SOCKS?! WTF? got a pair from our dealer for xmas. They are so damn comfortable even after 6 months of wearing them.

Wonder who makes em originally? Or do they have a bunch of old ladys at sewing machines along side the forges where they cast wrenches?
